Hello, I've recently been added to the roleplay roster of Balmung so I know little to nothing of its inhabitants. What I do know is that I would need some sort of FC and/or Linkshell for my character; Y'khin Blacke.

Originally from the Jaguar tribes, unfortunate events have led to him being blinded in the right eye, preventing from any job that could require depth perception. As such he now learns in the art of healing, seeking to heal his wounded eye and follow his revenge using the same weapon used to hunt and wound him, the spear.

((Planning on getting to WHM 50 before using the fantasia potion to fix his eye and go DRG soon after to exact vengeance, building plot really but I leave no room for retconning, If you think i could join you, Ill have to warn you that Y'khin isnt the most energetic type and will inevitably have conflicts with working with/associating with other members of the jaguar pack, but i think a little conflict goes a long way in building interesting stories, ALSO, note that I play on a Playstation 3 system, though it doesnt alter my skill with the game and though I have a functional keyboard, i simply thought it would be fair to let people know.))

((Im looking for a group of people that dont slip out of roleplay, permanent roleplaying while online is really a must since i've had some pretty bad experiences with roleplaying when others are not, it doesnt have to be heavy RP, simply still in character. My FC is an RP styled one. It has been empty but I have opened it to growth lately. The basic of the story of it is publicly its sort of a humanitarian/disaster aid unit of the Ul'dah military manned mostly by "civilians". In reality the Red Wings is an intelligence unit of the Flames, gathering information on the other city-states as well as the garleans. They also operate and guard the Royal Hall of Records. PM me here or in-game if this sounds interested.

Also note that despite the smaller nature of the FC, it is growing and I also have two active LSs I could add you two if you like.

Though im glad for this invitation, I doubt a fully good oriented FC would mesh well with my characters darker ambitions and I doubt the dream of wiping off many hundreds of miquo'te is one that HoD would be very pleased in honestly, hehe.

Is it very good orientated? It sounds very interesting, though my character's alleigance is already with Gridania considering they took him in and taught him healing so im not sure how that would work in your favor. But ill look into it!

Equilibrium is a dual sided guild, having both an evil side and a good side, many of us have characters in both. You can check us out here on the RPC linkshell page or on our guild website here. My only concern is that you want to always be in character? (If I understood things right). My guild commonly is in OOC in the FC chat and we play around in mumble as we typically run dungeons and such OOC. Most of our guild moved here together to get away from the OOC drama in SWTOR so we don't really want more of that. It not be much to reassure your fears of that, but throwing it out there anyways. We're all human, but we do try to not let IC interfere or cloud OOC. With that said you are still MORE than welcome to talk to our FC lead, give us a try or any of that.

It is good aligned, especially the public face side of it. If its to small for you or you don't think it would fit you I still have the active largeish LS. Its ooc but we set up RP in it and come from all walks of life.

Night Blades is a darker themed RP FC as well, but, as was stated above, our FC chat is OOC. We have an IC LS you can use to talk in character as often as you want but since we also focus on endgame/game content we have to be OOC in our FC.

I'd also recommend looking up the Grim Echo, who we're aligned with but have a much heavier RP focus than we do.

Quite hard to find full-time roleplay FC/LS isnt it? I imagine it goes against what a lot of the people want in a roleplay, but i dont like it when the roleplays are all scripted out already, I may sound really picky..

But I feel like an RP should be done on the spot, with reactions purely in character and no one else. I feel like, when you make an RP character, it shouldnt be a portal to your real OOC self, but stay as someone who you give role to. GOD I sound picky, im sorry if I spike anyone wrong with this..

No worries about being picky you have to find your perfect home for your character.

We don't script RPs in Equilibrium, we have a general idea with direction of a storyline, but it's by no means scripted. We had a major RP this weekend where the dark side should have "gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids" (surprise meeting, better skills etc), but due to the way RP happened they didn't exactly win the day. We knew we wanted to have a meeting of the evil side and the good side, but how that turned out was up to the RP.

There is also impromptu RP that happens all the time. Our guild has one of those RP tags, so to me personally that means if you stop and talk to me I'll stop and talk to you. Granted some of this has happened while I was in a mixture of terribly ugly low level fishing gear and had to make excuses for it. But that's my personal take on it. That being said members of our guild aren't required to RP and we've added a few members who are friends of friends and don't RP, which is why FC chat is typically OOC. And just asking for RP in FC chat, can probably get at least one taker, sure meeting up is planned but that's about it.

In short, RP isn't scripted, but it isn't CONSTANT. I'm honestly not sure I would even have the stamina for such an endeavor. Just like I can't run CT for hours on end, because it gets old and exhausting. So to I think would occur when trying to stay in character. That's not to say I haven't done extended 6 to 8 hour RP sessions on the weekends, but to do so everytime I'd log into the game pretty sure I'd go insane...especially since I know have 8 RP characters each with their own personality and story...it would be like having schizophrenia or at least how I would imagine it.

And while I agree your character shouldn't BE you, you are however part of your character no matter how hard you try not to be. You made it, you wrote it, part of you is in there even if it's small. Example...I HATE tea, my character Evie hates tea. I have no reason why she hates tea, she just does. That's part of me in her.

Though in order to try and not derail your original topic too much (sorry about that XD) I'll stop with that (though it's an interesting discussion and not sure if it's shown up before on the forums). I really don't know of many guilds with this type of set up and that are dark aligned. I know whenever I talk to Konner Kincaid in game he's in character (FC lead of the Order of Sword and Rose) but I believe his FC is good aligned. The Laughing Lady is more....neutral than dark, an anything goes type...not sure if their FC is IC, but I know their LS is. So there's at least two other options you might look into and get more information for.

Just because your not "on" 24/7 doesn't mean Roleplay is scripted. Aside from GM plots, all interactions with my character are completely organic and not planned out. I actually think you'll find that about most FCs. The most scripting that goes into a lot of rp is "Wanna go to the bar and RP?" for most everyone on this server.

I'm a HUGE beleiver that Armi is not me. At all. She doesn't act like me, she doesn't think like me. She isn't me. But I'm not her everytime I log into the game, either, but that doesn't make my interactions less organic.

I see what you mean by that, both of you bring some very interesting points up. Though I know that RP sessions can be very long and exhausting, i think what im trying to bring forth is some kind of hybrid between OOC and IC (Im a heretic and should be slain for my blasphemy, i know) Where, you're constantly in character, but you dont have to be actually DOING something, a kind of light RP, ((for example: U'lcer and U'mbrella happen to see each other in Horizon, they salute each other and begin talking about the weather in Thanalan of late)) To have no barrier between RP and OOC, basically, letting the whole game be one gigantic RP. It sounds difficult to acheive honestly because everyone has their own way of seeing things and of course there would be drama, but sometimes a little drama goes a long way!

I find this discussion VERY interesting actually, its somewhat like a clash of two worlds and im very much enjoying discovering the status quo in roleplaying on FFXIV.

Oh I quite enjoy random, "How are you" type of RP. It can last a few minutes or turn into something more. Though, and this has been brought up in other posts, I normally don't just go up to a person and say hello very often as I don't want to interrupt them in whatever they are doing or end up bothering someone who isn't an RPer. So I tend more of the safe side of things. However, if someone else comes up to me and waves or salutes or something and I'm not afk I tend to respond back. It could just be a simple bow back and then the person runs off or it could turn into more. Someone on Balmung bowed at me the other day and I responded, we ended up with a short conversation (OOC) before they ran off. They were just so excited about their new lala and wanted to show it off, but no one would pay attention. XD
