Naoh'to weighed the man's answer carefully. So, there indeed was a part of the other that was afraid of the man. Yet only in the most general of senses. Once he considered it, he figured it better that way. If the other wasn't afraid of Ferigen at all, that lent itself to carelessness. And carelessness.. that usually ended up in being caught. Best, then, that the other have at least a somewhat present fear of angering the druglord. Even better, if he was worried about his reputation amongst his kind, then it meant he would surely be less likely to let his business be known to others.

"Indeed, that is what I need." The miqo'te's smirk crept back to his lips. The situation seemed to be working out quite prettily in his favor and, even if the man hadn't known about this 'mysterious new trader', the fact that he seemed to be nervous was taken as a slight, unintentional compliment.

"And I believe you're exactly the person I'm looking for. And in that case, I suppose an introduction is in order.. I won't do you the discourtesy of pretending as if you haven't already figured it out, or that you don't at least have your suspicions." Slowly, he reclined back in his chair, and gave one more passive look around as he spoke just low enough for the other to hear. "I'm Naoh'to Mujuuk, the new owner of Reid Trading Company, and I'm the one that's been seducing the lovers right out from under Ferigen's fingertips. I know that disclosing names can be a foolish thing to do in this sort of situation.. But I figure if you're seeking out information on my behalf, it might behoove you to know who it is that you're spying for."

"Indeed," Clove murmured. His brow furrowed, momentarily, and he unfolded his hands to lay them flat on the table before them. He tapped the table twice, and tilted his head to the side. "If I fit your qualifications, Master Mujuuk, then before we get into the matter of details I would much like to air my concerns over my own part in this. You see, I do believe I am uniquely suited to sussing out the information you seek, but I fear getting the information to you will be. . .problematic. I am unsure whether or not you seek the company of male. . .companions, but even if you do, if you were to become a frequent customer there might be issues to arise, especially given the nature of my task. And if I was to be seen meeting you with any frequency outside of my business. . ." He shrugged one of his shoulders. It was a graceful gesture.

"In that vein, I have an investment I believe could benefit the both of us and act as a courier between us. She has my utmost trust; I have been grooming her with just this purpose in mind. If it suits you, I have brought her here with the intent to introduce you."

Clove leaned back slightly, his face and tone of voice both calm, betrayed only by the nervous odor in his sweat.

Naoh'to listened intently as the other man let his concerns be known, nodding slightly on occasion to show that he was getting all of the information loud and clear. He did have a good point;  No one would've expected him to be frequenting the bed of a male prostitute, and so either way there would be suspicions arising. Or there would be rumors started. While he did on very rare occasion entertain the thought of sharing other men's beds, that was something that he'd rather not be circulating about the Lominsan rumor mill.

"A courier.." He repeated the words aloud, mulling them over. He wasn't quite sure how he felt about it, dragging another person in on the operation. A woman, no less. He had a great deal of trouble trusting them in situations of any significant capacity. But yet again, he couldn't argue with the man's logic. He nodded again, eyes moving from Clove to passively look around as if trying to find the one he spoke of. "Very well. Call her over."

Clove leaned back and stretched, tipping his chair back onto its rear two legs. He reached and bumped the back of a miqo'te sitting at the bar. Immediately she turned, her ears swiveling to the side as she saw who it was who'd touched her. She nodded, and slipped off the stool -- narrowly avoiding getting elbowed in the face by the eager drinker to the right. She pulled a face, and came around to the side of the table facing the rest of the bar. There wasn't a chair, so she stood.

She was a skinny thing, nearly flat and boasting the curves of a twelve-year-old. It was a sign of malnutrition, that; here was a girl who'd lived hand to mouth for a long time. It showed in the rough quality of her hair, in the numerous small scars and scabs that spoke of accidents rather than fights, in the distinct kink in the last fourth of her tail. She bore the hunted, hard expression of those who'd never had a home besides the street, wrapped up tight in a smirk that bordered on a sneer. Her clothing was obviously well-used, but clean enough for all its mended tears and the occasional stain. She could have passed for a boy, had she put a smidgeon of effort into it.

"This is Dax. Dax, say hello to Master Mujuuk."

Zhi mimed a poorly executed curtsy, the sarcasm evident in her expression. "Fair winds t'ye, Master Mujuuk." She managed to butcher the pronunciation of his name, though whether or not it was her street accent or on purpose was anyone's guess.

Judging by Clove's frown, he'd guessed 'on purpose.' He sighed. "What she lacks in manners she makes up for in discretion. She runs occasional odd jobs on the side, so no one would think twice should she be seen meeting with you. Just another street runner. She's tied to me," his voice hardened, "so there will be no mishaps." His eyes moved towards Zhi, and they exchanged a brief glance.

She looked away first. Her smirk faltered, and she crossed her arms. Clove looked back to Mujuuk, his smile picking up the slack.

This was so not Clove's bag that Zhi half expected the man to enact some form of petty revenge for the favor -- a dig here or there. After this, they would be even. It was fair enough; he was risking his life and livelihood should things go sour enough for Mujuuk to sell him out.

Naoh'to's eyes followed Clove's movements as he leaned back and bumped the other miqo'te, the one that he presumed the other was speaking of. As she stood turned towards their table, it took a considerable amount of self control to keep the deep frown from making its way onto his lips. But that all came to a quick end as soon as the woman opened her mouth alongside that smartass curtsy.

She wasn't much to look at, which he guessed was a benefit in hindsight. Less likely that he would let himself be swayed if things did happen to go against him. Her manner of speech and attitude were.. less than to be desired. But at the very least, it seemed to him that Clove had the girl securely under thumb. Finally, letting out a soft hum of consideration, the man looked from Zhi back to Clove and nodded.

"Fine. As long as she keeps the highest level of discretion in mind, then I'll accept the arrangement." He paused, and then turned his head to look up to the other miqo'te, the pleasantness drained right out of his expression and replaced with a hint of grim sternness. "If you keep that in mind, we will have no problems. But if we do have problems, know that I have no qualms with getting rid of those problems directly at the source."

It was an empty threat, of course. As much illegal business as the man was tangled up in, as much womanizing as he did, and as many other questionable morals that he possessed, he just wasn't the type of person who could stomach killing. Still, given his relatively short time in the limelight, there would hardly be any precedent in the rumor mill to prove such. That was one advantage of still being relatively unknown - no one was quite certain what it was that you were capable of.

"Do you understand what I am saying, Miss Dax?" He pressed, still fixing her with his stare and scowling expression.

Faced with Mujuuk, Zhi's ears pricked forward and the smile returned with an extra heaping of slyness. "Ain't me first dance," she said, voice smooth as silk. She bent forward a little at the waist, her eyes holding a challenge curtailed by Clove clearing his throat.

Zhi straightened. "I understand. I ain't gonna be spillin' no one's secrets, 'less one o' you worthy ones tells me to."

"Dax," Clove said.

But she wasn't looking at him, she was looking at Mujuuk. "I'll follow yer orders, but he ain't earned me respect." Or, the sideways glance to Clove said, her fear.

"Push him, and I'll push you." Clove's voice was pleasant enough, but the threat was heavy in his words.

Zhi's ears flickered sideways in uncertainty, but her bravado held. "Tell me what ye need done, Master Mujuuk, an' I'll see it done." His name was still mangled, but the challenge had been guttered. That she was confident was present in the way she stood, though one of her ears still pointed in Clove's direction.
