Lyn knocked on the door, his hair and face covered by a mask and hood. The door cracked and and a female miqote sun seeker face poked out and instantly a fang bearing smile came. "Long time no see handsome..." Lyn scoffs as she opens the door and he walks in removing the metal mask that covered from his nose down and throwing his hood back. He had traveled all day and most of the night to Uldah. Sending a moogle ahead with a message of his intent and needs. Of course all three of them sat there waiting on him. Lilinette, Uldah born and raised sun keeper. A bit of a tomboy with a sultry side if that makes sense but weren't all sun keeper females? Very proficient in short blades and a mercenary for hire among the city. This job she was doing for free, to repay a favor to Lyn from a debt that she had accrued almost a year before to him. Next around the table was Malgoh, a Hyur male. Mercenary and retired assassin by trade, he was one of the most skilled archers in all of Uld'ah. He too owed Lyn a favor and as such tagged along. Last but certainty  not least was Koeten, another Hyur and Lyn's personal mentor and teacher. Almost like a father to the lad he was one the best hand to hand fighter Lyn had ever seen or met. He was here if anything to ensure the boy didn't die.

And so Lyn took his seat as they all joked and pushed a mug of ale in his direction. Until a few minutes later when Koeten blurted out what they were all thinking. "So why don't you tell us exactly how much trouble you're getting into boy?" Lyn proceeded to explain the situation to them the series of events that had led to this plan NEEDING to be carried out. How him and Kiht had come together, how she had taken the exiles under her protection and how he would do anything to keep her from getting hurt by these assassins that hunted the Exiles from Ishgard. After he finished his long story it was already morning and they all sat in silence for a long time. Each weighing and considering their options. Would they stay and help? Or abandon him to his fate to do it alone? The sun seeker female looked between the other two, as if they all came to some silent agreement finally. "Listen here handsome, I don't think we could live with ourselves if we let your pretty face get sliced up.. so I think I speak for all of us when I say.. I'm in." Lyns face relaxed as he sat back in his chair nodding solemnly looking from each and every one of the faces. "Thank you... all of you."

The next few hours were spent deciding on how to track down ANY of the members of this so called "elite" group of thugs from Ishgard. Lilinette had a simple answer for that since she was raised here... simply ask around. Who had taken up residence in the recent weeks, where, were they Ishgardian or not. So as their discussions came to a close on the first night they all went to sleep in the small rented out space. Lyn stirred about five hours later only to find Lilinette curled up in his bunk next to him. The only reaction he gave was a sigh and a shake of his head, as he picked up her arm off of his chest and rolled over her. Just as he was attempting to get over top of her he noticed she was awake and with a blushing face he continued as she made a disappointed noise and caressed his tail as he got up."You know you need to get me all to yourself while the getting's good Sparky. You're all I got eyes for right now." Lyn did a nervous chuckle shaking his head. "You know how I feel about kiht Lily. But I'll tell you what you get her to agree to it and I'll do anything you want.." He scoffed imagining the the Sun seeker asking kiht and the blood bath that would ensue. But with that settled he got dressed in regular clothes, no armor, just regular street clothes. He noticed that Koeten and Malgoth were already gone somewhere, probably to get breakfast. So he too stepped out the door, he had just a few hours before they were set to meetup back in the room.

And so the next few hours Lyn spent walking around the city checking out the various shops, scouting out the area. He kept an eye out for any odd behavior but in truth he was getting a feel for the city again. Pushing further into the slums hitting up old connections and making new ones. He began jogging as well getting back into it, he was already in great shape but being able to run, and sprint freely through back alleys and small spaces was key. More than likely anyone wanting to stay hidden would rent or buy a place here in the worst part of the slums. No one answered questions for any of the flamekeepers, they took care of their own. Thankfully this was the area that Lily had been raised in. So as Lyn was leaving the area she was coming in, throwing a short caress of his head and ears in as she passed him playfully earning another blush from the hapless Moon keeper male. So with that Lyn stopped by one of the small food vendors picking up a charred spiked fish on a stick. He walked around tailing a few known local thugs just to see what they were up to, then made his way slowly but surely back to the rented apartment where Koeten waited and Malgoth sat there rubbing wax on his bow string. Malgoth spoke up now with a cocky nod as he smoked on his pipe. "I see you found your rightful place, eating fish off a stick like a child.." Lyn smirked nodding. "You would be surprised how well fish tastes, it's almost as good as the taste of a woman.... not that you've had that for years old man." Malgoth's face fell into a loathing stare. as Koeten chuckled and they all settled into sharpening and preparing weapons, waiting on lily to return.

It was long after dark when she did come back, though she wore a smile that only said one thing.... she had good news.  So they all pulled a chair up next to the table as she laid a map of the greater slums down. Luckily for them nobody from ishgard but three had moved into the slums in recent weeks. One was a large abandoned house, her cousin had said there were men and women going too and from all the time... about twenty of them. That was no good, more than likely it was a brothel or something of the nature, that or if it was whom they were looking for there was far too many to accomplish their goals without help. Of the other two houses one had a family in it, so cross that off the list. The last one was a small single room shack, roughly six people inside of it and they had put up a new door with a slat to look through in the front. Bullseye... no doubts this was it or so they thought. First thing would be to confirm it. The night was already half over so, they all hurriedly threw on their armor with the exception of Malgoth and Lily, whom wore normal street clothes the latters a bit more revealing as she was in a short skirt and a brazier top. Lyn could only shake his head. Gods help him through this without this girl giving him a heart attack.  The two in regular clothing set out first, holding hands as if lovers. It was a clever ruse, flirting near the shack so to keep a close eye on it. Lyn and Koeten stuck to the shadows in the ally's right next to it, not making a sound. Lyn's trusty lance left at home because it was too big and bulky but his spiked and bladed armor underneath his black over robe was more than enough for him to handle any trouble, which there was none.

They listened through the walls as best they could but all that went on inside was whispers, that's when it happened. One of the occupants walked out, armed and armored, her foot steps almost silent. Lyn could feel his ears pin back at the smell, blood and lots of it. Exactly what the hell was going on in there? Koeten patted Lyn on the shoulder and brushed passed him as he began tailing the man. All was to plan for now, Lyn would stand by to make sure that his two observers and their act got off without a hitch. And so as Koeten began his tail on the single man leaving those two stood up and that's Lyn seen it take form. They began kissing and bumped into the door as Malgoth grabbed the hand attempting to turn it, it was locked and you could hear blades being drawn inside and the slat opened. A rough voice spoke asking what the hell they were doing. Lily put on a fake blush and malgoth acted embarassed for a second. "Wow somebody actually lives in there? I thought it was abandoned... sorry!" With that Lily gave a small blushing wave to whomever was behind the door looking through the slat. They both walked away, and all went to plan as they now knew two things, the door was always locked, the people inside were armed. This was now the only one of three that was plausible for the location. So Lyn slipped out silently back to the apartment making it there just before dawn, the others had already arrived and they had a guest. A female Hyur sat tied to one of the chairs a gag in her mouth her face beat to hell, with bruises all over the rest of her body. Koeten sat in the chair in front of her holding pressure on a bleeding wound on his side. Lyn about ran forward towards him when he held up an arm. "It's not deep.. no worries nothing one of your mothers potions can't fix." Lyn then felt the anger well up inside of him as he turned his gaze towards the girl, her armor and weapon still bloody in the corner.

She sat in her under garments, dripping with sweat. Lyn took a step towards her in anger raising his spiked gauntletted fist only to have Malgoth stepping in front of him, grabbing him. "We need her alive for now Lyn... save it.." Lyn was tossed and pushed up against the wall by the larger and more physically strong hyur. After a few minutes Lyn calmed to a seethe, all the while Lily had been talking to the tied up mirror of herself. "Wanna tell me why you smell like blood, and why your marked with crests of ishgard? Huh? Hey I'm talking to you..." Lily would raise a small dagger in her hand and slice a notch in the other females left ear. Lyn looked and noticed that it now had three of those.... As lily did this their captive groaned through the gag snapping her head back. As it snapped back lily placed the tip under the captives chin as if she was going to push it all the way in. "You don't wanna talk? That's fine I know some slave traders that would trade a lot of Gil for a pretty little  girl like yourself... and that's only after these males here have had their way with you.... oh and me of course." Lyn knew for a fact Lily was bluffing, but he bit his lip as he noticed malgoth looking at the girl with hungry eyes licking his lips nodding. Lily then chimed back up. "So one more time, nod if you will answer my question." She then removed the dagger from under the girls chin and the girl looked almost as if finally panicking from each male in the room to her. That's when Koeten spoke up "I got dibbs on the eye socket..." This caused Lily to giggle and nod.  Koeten was not a hyur you wanted to tempt, while Lyn doubted he meant what he said, there was no way to truly tell if he did or not.

That was not enough however, the girl glared holes into the Lil's face, then turned to look at koeten as he removed his mask. His golden eyes peircing into her, if she would not talk he would make her. This was not a matter of life an death just for him and his companions, but for Kiht and her friends, the Exiles. Removing his spiked gauntlets and the Chestpeice of his armor he pulled a chair up next to where the girl sat then walked back to where his travelers sack was. Reaching inside he brought out a corked beaker, corked with glass. It was a glowing lime green and he smirked malevolently at her. With this even his master tilted his head in curiosity. So Lyn began to walk towards the tied up victim uncorking it and throwing the cork to the side with his free hand, it shattered against the wall. "My mother made this, a rather wicked concoction that burns and dissolves flesh upon touch. The catch is that as it consumes flesh, it grows, using the compounds and cells like oil to a flame. The only way to stop it from consuming your entire body is to pour a rather simple household agent on the effected area." With that he would pick up a bottle of whiskey they had been drinking on the night before. "I'll give you a choice, you answer the simple questions we ask and I won't let you be consumed from the outside in in a very painful way. " The girl sneered and lunged at him as best she could speaking but her words were muffled. Lyn smirked now shaking his head. "Have it your way.."

With that he would lean forward and pour three drops of the liquid onto her foot. Nothing happened first as he backed up the whiskey bottle in his hand. The girl made a face at him with a smart ass muffle as if she was laughing at it not doing anything. Lyn's companions looked at each for a second and Malgoth began to speak. "Lyn I think you've lo-" He was cut off by an agonized sound of pain from the girl as they all turned their attention back to her foot. The skin was bubbling and not a second went by and her bones became visible as the smell of burning flesh hit the air. Even Lily had to turn away, taking a few steps back. The Assassin girl began to openly scream now as even the entire front of her foot was nothing left but bone, white as if it had been bleached. Lyn would take the whiskey jug and toss some whiskey on it, the alcohol immediately neutralizing the vile compound held carefully in his other hand.  The girls screams stopped after a few seconds her breath heavy as the sound of her crying was prevalent. Lily slid back in front of her grimacing, this was too much... even for her.  She posed the same question again and the girl weakly shook her head. Without warning Lyn pushed passed and grabbed her by her chin holding it with all his strength forcefully tilting her head to the side. He put a few drops of it on the girls cheek just above the gag.  She attempted to struggle but was too weak and soon began to scream again. As a nice hole burned in her cheek big enough to fit the end of the beaker he tossed some whiskey on it and into her mouth.

She was crying openly now, tears streaming down her face. Lily looked at koeten shocked for a second and spoke softly. "In the name of the gods Lyn take it easy for a second.." Lyn's head did not turn but his eyes met hers a dangerous look on them. "The gods are going to sit this one out Lily.." He ripped the gag out of the girls mouth and she sputtered a cough and he grabbed her neck to as if he was going to force the beaker into the hole in her cheek and she spoke begging for mercy. Last thing she wanted was to be eaten from the inside out, and his plans were obvious. Lyn stepped back sneering then walked behind Lily.

Lily stared at the girl and it was as if oceans had boiled over as the bruised and battered girl spilled everything, what they were, what they were there for, if they knew the name Kiht , if she knew where the exiles were. How many people were in the shack with her. As she finished Lily smiled kindly almost like an older sister brushing her hair with her hand. All the while Lyn was leaned against the wall across from the girl still very pissed she had harmed his master. Lily spoke as if on que, knowing Lyn so well and how his true anger was. The girl was crying now not knowing what was next hoping they would let her live. "Shhh it's okay, it's not like it won't be quick.." As the last word left her mouth she tossed the dagger in her hand in the air spinning it as Lyn can walking forward with three long steps snatching it out of the air. As the girls shocked face looked up realizing what Lily had said , with a thunk the dagger found it's way directly into her eye socket  and out the back of her skull. Lyn left the dagger in there as he shook his hand of the blood and began taking off his armor. "Jeez sparky so harsh, I expected you to slice an ear off, not kill her." Lyn shook his head, more serious than he had been in a long time. "She served her purpose and we now have our way in.." Lyn nodded towards the pile or armor and weapons in the corner. "She said she was slated to return there after a days time. So that means today we spend preparing, tomorrow night we plan out our attack, then we rest.. then we finish this."

They watched, they waited, they prepared. After they had disposed of the body of the girl they had immediately began checking armor, and sharpening weapons. Lyn most of all armed himself to the teeth. It was as if he was going to take the entire Ishgardian army himself. As if his black scale armor with spikes and blades all over it wasn't enough for the hand to hand master, a long bladed spear, and a single dagger hung from his side on his left flank. The plan was simple, but would it work? There was only one way to know, and that was to put it into action. Soon night fell and they rested. While rest was had not a wink of sleep was had, Malgoth checked and rechecked his bow and the integrity of his arrows. Koeten went through his paces doing a strange battle ritual that involved heavy meditation. Lily cuddled up to Lyn as he laid in his small bed, silent as he went over every possible situation in his mind. This could be the last time he seen any of them, hence why he allowed the sun seeker female to basically lay on top of him basically naked. If anything the girl was kind hearted, sure she was forward but that didn't bother Lyn. He wasn't about to betray the trust of his mate.

As the next morning arrived they all stirred, going out to buy some last minute provisions they waited, and before they knew it, it was night fall. They waited until a few hours after dark and set off. Lyn and Koeten wearing black over robes with the same armor and black metal masks on. Lily wore light leather armor with a short sword and dagger on each respective hip. Malgoth faded into the shadows the second they hit the slums, his large thick bow on his back as he went to set up his over look point. Not thirty minutes later three of them stood in the dark alley adjacent to the shack, the front door facing them. Lyn gave a quiet animalistic whistle to single malgoth, sounded exactly like a baby choccobo. Lyn could not see the hyur but he knew he was there. With the signal Lily did a little hop skip up to the front door and knocked, immediately as if like clockwork she heard blades being drawn. The slat began to open and it was as if time slowed as she stepped to the side, as it fully opened all the man would see was a shadow in the air and something leaping out of his hand. He began to scream a warning but was cut short as Lyn's spear crashed through the wooden door with force impaling him like a tack through a piece of paper through his chest. As he finished his throw he landed on his feet and rolled to the side just as a ball of fire flew passed his head, thrown by Koeten. The ball of magic hit the door with a massive explosion blowing it off it's hinges. Using the smoke and hopeful shock lily drew her blades rushing in with a small giggle. Lyn and koeten running in from the alley just a few seconds behind her.

Those few seconds however were far too much, for as she got into the smoke two blades came careening out of it from either side, one low and one high. Fighters of this caliber are not so easily shocked, she had just enough time to duck the high blade but her left thigh was deeply cut open as she rolled into the hut, her movement cirppled. As she hit the ground another assassin attempted to leap on her with a shortsword, a hyur. She growled reacting quickly blocking his blow with her own shortblade then sliced upwards with her dagger catching him with a shallow gash to the side. Another Assassin came from behind her opposed to the other two at the door, he raised his blade but was shocked by the sound of a battle cry that was so loud and feverous is nearly struck fear into him. With the dust settling Lyn could see him, and he was pissed. As Lyn got to the door again the two blades came out of the sides, raising his iron armored leg he blocked the lower, and used the spikes on his right gauntlet to block the high one, catching it.  As he stopped blocking both attacks a small lightning bolt careened past his head catching the one behind lily in the chest blowing him out through the thin back wall. Koeten smirked as he pushed on behind Lyn as his pupil kicked the lower blade away and used his adrenaline powered brute strength to go after the ambusher on his right.

The assassin that had been blown out the back wall immediately hopped up thanking his armor for saving him but as he began to run back in an arrow glanced off his blade. Looking to his left and then to his right he couldn't make out were it had come from. Malgoth stood up to make himself visible to the man, like bait to a wolf. The wolf took the bait as he ran skillfully going from right to left towards the man on top of the roof of the shack across the street. Malgoth drew and fired again just to the mans left, predictably the assassin dodged to the right. "Good boy.. keep coming..." In a matter of a little more than a second the assassin was at the base of the schack skillfully running up the short wall and bursting with speed went into the air. With a sound of confidence his blade was raised for a killer slash on the hyur archer, but the trap was sprung. As he reached the base of the structure Malgoth grabbed his bow with both hands sliding the bow string off the end, as his prey went into the air the other end came off, and finally as the blade came down he stepped to the side at the last second and spun throwing his arms around the neck of the hyur with his steel bow string in his hand. Less than a second later the assassin was missing something very important, his head. Using his bow string like a garote and all his force behind the pull human flesh was cut easily by the thin but materia enhanced wire. As the body fell malgoth kicked it onto the ground and re strung his bow, waiting for the next target.

All the while when that was going on outside, Lyn had managed to push his targets back to the wall after grabbing his wrist when he had attempted to slash at him as he entered. Koeten had leveled with a rather burly male assassin and last but not least Lily still on the ground bleeding profusely out of her leg fended off her would be attacker with her two blades. Then as if a switch clicked all parties clashed again after standing apart. Koeten's hands erupted in flames as he moved forward his burly male assassin swung his blade as a feint, but his right leg came up attempting to take the advancing man off his balance. Koeten leapt up into the air avoiding it and rolled to the side. Lily's attacker seized an opportunity of the old man coming so close to him that he kicked koeten in the back sending him face first towards his own opponent. All the while in the corner Lyn struggled to keep his man pinned to the wall. This is where the operation began to get hairy, koeten was still very much injured from two nights before. The kick sent him off balance and kareening towards his opponent who seized this team work to move forward. The assassin sliced while he moved passed in the blink of an eye, leaving the open mentor with a long gash from shoulder to lower back that was almost two inches deep in some places. He fell after a second of struggling to stay upright face in the ground, appearing to be unconscious or dead. Lilinette screamed in horror and shock.

Lyn looked back at the scream his eyes full of fear only to see his master and mentor fall. That second was all that was needed as his opponent got a leg up and kicked Lyn backwards forcing him to stumble back. The man whom had hurt his mentor moved towards his exposed neck but was stopped as something grabbed his leg. He looked down to see koeten's hand, the old man crawling with a defiant smirk on his face as his entire body seemed to glow orange for a second. "Not today dirtbag..." With that he screamed and his entire body burst into flames, in a white flash the entire shack exploded. Everyone in the shack flew in different directions from the force alone. The Assassin Koeten had a hold of. The black mage and mentor to Lyn's body lay in the center of the busted and burning foundation of the shack charred to a crisp. Lyn was thrown into the far shack, lily thrown the opposite way, their opponents about twenty yards from either of them. Lyn's ear rang as he struggled upright and screamed in angery, wiping some blood from his mouth. A concussive wave from an explosion such as that was nothing to trifle with. AS the smoke cleared he spotted Lily and ran over to her, noting an assassin was doing the same thing. He met the assassin mid way not knowing where the other was. Leaping into the air and twisting he tackled the assassin throwing his shoulder pad into him crashing them through another thin wall.

As they rolled Lyn felt a sharp pain in his stomach, as they stopped rolling his back hit the opposite wall. and he spit up more blood, his vision shaking he looked down and noticed it. The assassins short sword was sticking out of his stomach. Apparently the bastard had managed to maneuver it as they rolled. He drew is dagger from his waist as the assassin he had tackled stood up and chuckled walking towards him. Lyn in a flash, as fast as he could threw the dagger at the mans head, just barely he ducked getting a small cut on the side of his left cheek. He made an angry face and started to move forward to draw the blade out of Lyn's stomach to finish him only to stop mid reach. Lyn wore a sick grin as his hand covered his wound, knowing better than to remove the blade. The mans face began to smoke and suddenly he screamed in pain rearing back. "Burn you son of a bitch.." After just a few seconds Lyn began to stand up half the skin on the mans face was gone, that poison his mother had given him, he had coated his blade with it for an emergency. Lyn weakly stumbled out of the hole in the shack leaving the screaming man behind. Clutching the blades hilt was was all the way to his skin he chuckled sickly. He slowly made his way towards a very bleak looking Lily, who was leaning against a short stone wall, sitting down. She barely managed to smile as her vision was blurry but from the black armor she knew it was Lyn. "Hey... handsome. Finally *cough* came to sweep me off my feet huh?" Lyn meagerly chuckled and bent down, cringing and groaning in pain, his body going into shock as he began to pick her up. As he got her off the ground and into his arms his legs gave out and they both fell to the ground. His back now against the wall she fell just on the other side of the hilt of his blade now sitting on his legs that were straight out.

"Bastard cut me deep, all the way to the bone. I-I lost too much blood hon, don't think Ima make it..." Lyn felt tears began to well up in his golden eyes. Her voice began to fade. "At least I'm dying in the arms of the man I love.." He would nuzzle the side of her head as her eyes began to close. He wanted to say something... anything to her, but his mind couldn't put the words together, not goodbye, not some smart ass remark... just sobbing as she faded, his own vision began to blurr as he hugged her limp body to his chest, her head on his shoulder. He cried in agony, the blade still in him they were both dead. He looked to his left only to notice the body of the last assassin, laying with an arrow in his neck and one in his chest. Malgoth was nowhere to be found, by the plan he should be grabbing the evidence and supplies. Damn  it all... as his vision began to blurr more Lyn remembered something reaching into his armor pulled out a pearl. Activating it he spoke what may be his last sentences.

"K-kiht... my vekker.. I_I don't think I'm going to make it back.*long pause* I want you t-t-to know that I l-love you and... *bated breaths* I don't have much time... s-so I love you. Keep the c-c-clan safe okay? Ever since I met y-you... Menphina guide you moon sister, I'll always... be with you..." With that the only sounds heard from the pearl would be him dropping it as his vision darkened. He had about an fifteen minutes until he bled out, would anyone get there in time? They would have to have a very strong potion and have general knowledge of first aid. If not Lyn konge would die, as malgoth and them had no potions that could heal such a large wound.

Kiht Jakkya was at a hut in Greentear. She had returned from La Noscea where she had met some of the people who had joined with her to form a coalition of Ishgard exiles, and their allies. She decided to name the coalition The Exiled Order. Perhaps a rather formal name for a group of rag-tag individuals, but Kiht felt that it fit.

She was tired from her trip, and hated riding on sea vessels. If only Aetheryte travel weren't so expensive, she thought to herself. Ultimately, she was just happy to be home. She removed her formal armor that she always wore when presenting herself to the Exiles. It wasn't long until she was back in her old leather huntress gear. She took a step outside, and breathed a breath of fresh air. The forest was almost silent. A low breeze gently rustled the leaves of the trees as rushing water from a near-by river could be heard as it flowed along.

It was then that Kiht suddenly got a sinking feeling in her stomach. A feeling she hadn't felt in a long time. What in the Seven Hells was this feeling? She thought to herself. That is when Lyn's voice rang through the linkshell like a sudden interruption in time. Everything felt as if it had nearly come to a stop around her as she listened to his words.

"K-kiht... my vekker.. I_I don't think I'm going to make it back.*long pause* I want you t-t-to know that I l-love you and... *bated breaths* I don't have much time... s-so I love you. Keep the c-c-clan safe okay? Ever since I met y-you... Menphina guide you moon sister, I'll always... be with you..."

“Lyn!” Kiht shouted over the linkshell. “Lyn, what is going on?!” Kiht waited a few seconds for his response that never came. “Lyn! Gods no! Not you! Just...Just wait a moment!” Kiht shouted in desperation as her voice cracked.

Kiht started looking around in panic. Lyn was in Ul'dah, she was in the Black Shroud. How would she come to his aid in time? Suddenly, the thought struck her. Her only hope. A gift from Rinette Molkoh.

Kiht burst into the hut and started digging through a foot locker full of assorted items. She pulled out a dull-blue crystal shard. It was an aetheryte shard that was given to her by Rinette. To the best of Kiht's knowledge, these portable aetheryte crystals were very rare, very expensive and had limited usage. Kiht had already used the thing once to take her home when she was lost in La Noscea. She didn't think it could be used again. It certainly didn't glow anymore. Kiht grabbed her leather bag of field supplies full of herbs and other things that could be used for medical purposes. She then strapped on her harpoon, but there was no time for anything else. She then had one last hope; getting the old aetheryte shard to work.

She focused her aether into the shard and let her thoughts drift to the desert city. Nothing happened. The shard didn't vibrate, it didn't glow, it did nothing. Kiht began squeezing the shard firmly with both hands as tears welled in her eyes. “Gods damn it! Take me to Ul'dah!” Kiht shouted at the seemingly worthless shard. Kiht let a out a desperate squeak of sadness and frustration as tears poored down her cheeks. “Menphina help meeeeee!” Kiht asked, desperately. Suddenly, as if on cue, the shard glowed to life like a blue flame, and began to vibrate. A vortex of energy surrounded Kiht then she got reduced to aether and sucked in.

The quiet and stillness of the Aetheryte chamber in Ul'dah was quickly broken when Kiht exploded out of an aether vortex into the chamber. Without hesitation she bolted out into the streets of Ul'dah leaving the Brass Blade guard in the chamber to see nothing but a blur. She began glancing around desperately for any signs of where Lyn might be. “Lyn, where are you?! Please respond!” Kiht called out over the linkshell. It was no use, there wasn't going to be a response. It almost seemed as if there was no hope of finding him in the city, but then, she noticed two Immortal Flames having a conversation on the side of the street. Kiht ran up to them with widened eyes as her heart was pounding from the adrenaline. “You! Flames! Has there been any incidents recently? Anything out of the ordinary happening? Please, my friend is in danger! You must tell me!” Kiht asked in a pleading tone.

“Erm, that's Flames' business, miss. I would ask that you stand by for the reports from the criers. Rest assured, we have everything under control.” One of the Flames, who was a Hyur man, said to Kiht in a dismissive tone.

Kiht had always had a temper, but now she was faced with a desperate situation. She clenched her fists, and gritted her teeth. Her ears pinned back as the fur on her tail bristled. She stared at the Hyur with widened eyes, and a feral stare of fury. “Captain Erik Mynhier! I assume you know him? He would authorize you to give me a report!” Kiht stated in an insistent tone. The Flames both raised eyebrows at her, but did not immediately respond. Time was running out. It had already passed the five-minute mark since Lyn's call. “I'll just take a moment to verify that...” The Hyur Flame said as he put his finger to his ear to talk on a linkshell.

Rhalgr curse everything! Kiht thought to herself as she began looking around. She did not have time for this, but she did not know where to look. Fortunately, news traveled fast in Ul'dah. Kiht's ears suddenly picked up two merchants talking about an explosion in the slums. That was it! It had to be. It was Kiht's only lead. However, how would she get there? She knew hardly anything about the lay-out of the city. She had no idea where the slums were.

Kiht bolted over to the merchants. “Pardon! Where are the slums!?” Kiht asked, desperately. The merchant gave her a perplexed expression as he regarded her.

This was beyond frustrating. The love of her life was dying somewhere, and she did not know how to find him. No body understood that! But how could they? Kiht paced a few yalms away from the merchants as they slowly and casually tried to ponder directions for her. Kiht couldn't help it. She once again felt like a helpless girl. Tears began welling in her eyes once more as she clenched her fists. She suddenly let out a scream of frustration into the air for everyone on the streets to hear.

“Thal's balls, miss! Calm down, will ya? Other side of the city just North of the Markets. Ya can't miss it.” The Merchant responded in a concerned tone.

Without hesitation, or even taking the time to thank the Merchant, Kiht began to run to the nearest aetheryte. She slapped her hand on it, and began trying to think of the slum district. Kiht was swiftly transported to an aetheryte near the marketplace. Close enough. Kiht was once again fortunate to notice a squad of Brass Blades running in unison to some unknown location. They moved with a sense of urgency. Kiht began following them.

When they all got to a location in the slum district that was full of shacks and small houses, the leading officer of the Blades ordered them all to spread out and search. However, Kiht would now follow her nose. She picked up the unmistakeable scent of burned flesh. She began letting her keen nose guide her to the location. She was very tired, but she did not slow her pace. It was already past the ten-minute mark.

Moments later, Kiht arrived at the gruesome scene. A destroyed shack, dead bodies everywhere, burned pieces of wood scattered about. What in the Seven Hells had happened here?

Then, she saw him. Lyn was motionless against a wall with the body of a female Miqo'te laying on his legs. She hurried over to them and fell to her knees. She couldn't stop her tears or stop the shaking in her hands, but she opened her bag that she brought with her, and began pulling things out. It was then that she noticed that she was knelt in a pool of blood. It seemed the combination of the girl's blood, and Lyn's blood. She examined the blade sticking out of his torso as an extremely concerned and desperate expression grew on her face. She had hardly any training or experience in treating such an injury. She knew a few healers, but none of them were anywhere nearby. Actually, she knew Ul'dah was full of healers, but she knew not where to find them. She grabbed some herbs that she cracked and crunched in her hands. These herbs would help to stop the bleeding around the wound by causing the blood to coagulate. However, she didn't know how to deal with any internal bleeding if he was suffering that. She knew she couldn't pull the blade out, or he would bleed even more. She was very shaky, but she carefully put herbs around the wound, and used long pieces of cloth wrappings to wrap a bandage around the wound and his torso. She couldn't remove his armor without removing the blade, so that made things even more difficult. There was not much more Kiht could do. She had no healing magic, and had no other knowledge on how to treat him further. Kiht regarded the female Miqo'te, and checked to see if she had a pulse. It didn't seem so. It was at that point that she looked back to regard Lyn's face. “Lyn...” Kiht began to speak, but she was interrupted by her own sobbing. “I love you as well! Please do not leave me...” Kiht managed to say in a quiet and helpless tone as her voice cracked several times.

Suddenly, she heard shouts from people near-by. The Brass Blades had found the scene, and were closing in on it. Lyn needed some major help. Healing magic, powerful potions or a phoenix down would be the only things to ultimately save him. However, Kiht had none of those at that moment. She had to hope that she had stopped the bleeding. She had to hope that the local authorities had some kind of treatment on hand.

Kiht wrapped her arms around Lyn's neck, and began crying profusely as she laid her head on his other shoulder. There wasn't much more she could do. She wasn't sure if anyone else on the linkshell had heard Lyn and/or her voice.

Pyralis hated coming to Ul'dah. But the former bard had made too many contacts in the city and had spent too many drunken nights in her taverns to stay away. While he lay sleeping in a stranger’s bed, he dreamt about playing a song for a pretty miqo'te girl with mismatched eyes. Good dreams never last long though as he was awaken from his slumber by an explosion not too far off. "Ugh...can't a mansleep off his drunken stupor in peace?" Pyralis said slowly opening his eyes to adjust to his surroundings. The effect of the all the alcohol he had consumed was still lingering in his body. A pretty red headed Hyur girl lay next to him fully nude with a peaceful smile on her face. Pyralis shook his head as if disappointed and left the bed as to not disturb her. With haste he gathered his clothing, bag of goods, his axe, and left her dwelling in a rush like a man who had been caught stealing. The habit of drinking and bedding women he met in the taverns would surely catch up to him one day.

The smell of smoke was potent in the air and it made him fell uneasy. Thoughts of assassins hunting him down seemed to make Pyralis more paranoid now leaving him constantly on edge. After all, how does one simply adjust to a life of hiding and fear? Before the threat of assassins, Pyralis had played the harp, made coin off of it, intoxicated himself, and made love to the pretty women across Eorzea. Those days were past though and Pyralis quickly checked his bag of potions and the two hi-elixirs that he coveted greatly. The regular potions were easy to come by and worked decent enough if you'd taken a bad fall. However, the hi-elixirs were potent and had brought him back from the brink of death once. The former bard has originally had three hi-elixirs but had taken an axe across his chest on one of his drunken nights. Some individuals just don't enjoy other men hitting on their women. Phantom pains would still haunt him even though the hi-elixir had done its job and healed him up. It did take weeks for the wound to truly heal though and to get up and walk around. The elixirs themselves were costly and very hard to come by. Pyralis had won two of the hi-elixirs by cheating in gambling with a lalafell apothecary and saved up enough money for the third. Whatever Gods were out there would surely punish him for his crime one day.

Pyralis slipped on his linkpearl to hear of what might be going on with the group of exiles. Information was key to survival and he would get as much as he could from the group to stay ahead of his would be killers. He personally did not like to speak on the linkpearl or share any information that he himself happened to come upon. While standing outside and taking in the smell of smoke his thoughts wandered to Kiht and the great responsibility she was undertaking. While most would feel sympathy for someone undertaking such a duty he saw her as a misguided girl. For how can anyone hope to stop the inevitable? We will all die and it will not be pleasant, Pyralis thought putting himself in a foul mood. It was simply a matter of enjoying the last few days they had before someone got them. A voice came in from the linkpearl and Pyralis listened intently.

"K-kiht...

Pyralis looked off to the distance trying to piece together what he had just heard. Was that Kiht's mate Lyn? The first meeting between the Pyralis and him had not gone well. Pyralis did not like or trust the miqo'te. Perhaps he was simply jealous of the bond that Kiht and Lyn had? Pyralis shrugged and thought that it was not his problem if the miqo'te died. Even if he wanted to help perhaps the explosion and the smell of smoke was not related to Lyn? Fend for yourself as all others will betray you, echoed in Pyralis’s thoughts darkly. But that little voice in his head had major objections to him turning and leaving someone the exiles considered an ally. The slums seemed to be full of life as people wanted to see what the explosion was about. Pyralis suddenly felt uneasy as he did not like large crowds for assassins could be lurking about them. Time was passing and Pyralis stayed in the same spot debating whether to leave Lyn to die or actually help him. He could be alright idiot…don’t get ahead of yourself, Pyralis thought while looking the opposite way of where the explosion had come from. The tavern wasn't that far away so he could simply head in, drink, and forget his troubles, perhaps even find another lovely lass for the night. Would Kiht ever forgive you? He thought as a frown formed on his face, after she took you in? Pyralis had trouble believing that anyone of the exiles would be there in a heartbeat to defend, protect, and save him in his time of need.

Pyralis saw the brass blades running towards the direction of where the explosion came from and was shocked to see Kiht running as well. It confirmed what he already knew but refused to admit, Lyn was involved somehow in that explosion and he was in trouble. When one is constantly in a battle with death, they learn to adapt and survive but ultimately fail in the end. Pyralis started remembering the healers he had met in his past who taught him how to treat wounds without the art of magic. The knowledge had saved him from losing limbs as well as a couple of close calls on his life. Pyralis gritted his teeth and turned around running towards where he hoped Kiht and Lyn would not be.

The blood, fire, smoke, and dead bodies all around disturbed him. It was one thing to see yourself bleed it was another to be surrounded by the stench and sight of death. The brass blades were already moving close to the scene. Pyralis made his way quickly and quietly through the brass blades to witness Kiht crying and holding onto Lyn. He also noticed another miqo’te girl limp by Lyn. Something of regret and guilt stirred inside him. Was he too late?  Did his inaction cause the death of Lyn? Pyralis rushed to Kiht's side and said sternly to her. "Kiht I think I can save him but you have to move and trust me...I'm his only hope right now." Pyralis gently but quickly ushered Kiht aside to study the wound that Lyn had. It was bad, very bad. He'd have to yank that sword out and quickly stop the bleeding. But his healing abilities weren't that advanced. Pyralis studied Lyn more thinking of what to do to save him. The thought hit him and it made him sick to consider. The hi-elixir he so coveted could possibly save him. He quickly set his bag aside and yanked out the elixir eyeing it with sadness. Saving lives and someone he didn't care for was difficult. Saving someone with one of his life treasures was painful. Pyralis looked to Kiht's eyes and saw the pain and desperation in them. No...I won't let her down, Pyralis thought.

With precision he pulled the sword out of Lyn and immediately set to putting pressure on his wound. The hi-elixir should hopefully kick in quickly, Pyralis had thought and hoped. He uncorked it with his mouth and poured some on Lyn's wound. Pyralis proceeded to pry open the miqo'te's mouth and pour the elixir down. Usually half a bottle would heal most but the blood loss and wound was bad. If he even lived it would be a long recovery, if he died Pyralis was going to be pissed.

"Don't die on me you bastard...you have a debt to pay now." Pyralis held the miqo'te's wound and stared at Lyn’s face with anger and fear.

Post theme

All was quiet, it was as if the gods in his last moment had spared him the sounds so he could concentrate on this feeling of euphoria. So many flashes of memories went through his mind, flashing quickly and briefly. From his childhood with his mother and his father, to meeting his mentor Koeten. His dark times in Uld'ah as a mercenary with these same people that went into battle with him. From lilinettes constant sultry and smiling face to koeten's old and hardened one. Malgoth's own bearded face, almost always hooded. Then the short time afterward, with kiht. The first time he had met her and Rinette and her. That beautiful face, her kindness. It tok him all the way through all she had showed him, then flashed the first time they had kissed, embraced. When he had met her clan, protected it for her, the people he had killed for her and her mission to protect the exiles before this night. It was all there, time to him had seemed to slow but when that potion hit his wound he heard a voice that seemed to have a timed delay, it was kiht's begging the gods, begging him.

"Please do not leave me...”

It was as if something tugged initially at his soul away from that soft blue light at the end of the tunnel. He felt everything in him being pulled back, he turned towards the tug in his subconscious and roared towards it screaming as loud as he could. He wasn't going to leave her behind, he told her he would always be there to protect her and so he would.

He coughed outwardly, blood spitting out as his wound began to heal slowly, the internal damage mostly as it was reduced to a deep gash. His eyes shot awake as he looked around, his own hands smoking embers flying off them in panic not knowing what was going on. His mentor was a blackmage, and had been teaching lyn quietly on the side, but he had no strength to conjuer up anything he could control and that was a good thing. Desperation was a strength that was not to be trifled with. He immediately calmed however seeing kiht's face, ignoring the man that had saved him. "V-vekker..." Tears began falling down his face as he reached for her, all he wanted was to touch her, to hold her. He was interrupted however by a loud yell as Malgoth appeared on the roof above them with a thud drawing his bow and taking aim at a Brass blade. He wore the garb of nothing else but the assassins they were framing. T ensure that the plan went off without a hitch and the Ishgardians were convinced that their rival group had committed the act. Unfortunately that also meant playing the part for Malgoth, but killing a few corrupt local law enforcement just added to the story. "Don't just stand there idiots get him out of here! I'll hold them off, and please take Lily's body with you." He let loose and arrow that whistled menacingly at the first brass blade that rounded the corner striking it in the shoulder. His bow was massive, the same size and length as his entire body. The arrows he fired were a spear by lalafel standards, and he drew another in a blurr drawing the string. He looked down at them again if they hadn't taken immediate actions. Even with his face masked his green eyes were begging them at this point with sincerity. "I said go! If you want to live to see him again run! Run as fast as you can!" As if on que in the darkness the clattering of several sets of armor could be heard.

He let fly another one as an agonizing scream of shock could be heard. He had to make it believable, to complete Lyn's wishes, or else their companions died for nothing. He then drew two arrows and put them both on his string splitting them in between his fingers. He took off sprinting, disappearing into stealth. Two brass blades came around the corner about ten yards away from kiht and the former ishgardian that had saved Lyn's were. Malgoth appeared crouched below them as they stopped looking at the saviors they had found. As they began to take a step forward both arrows loosed at close range striking both in the chest sending them flying backwards about ten feet before sliding on the ground. Malgoth would again disappear into stealth and reappear another arrow in his bow as he ran up a wall of a short shack and into the air drawing back the string in mid air and firing yet again. He purposefully glanced the arrow off the blade of the leading brass blade officer to get his attention. A loud yell pierced the night. "THERE GET HIM!" Lyn's long time ally took off in a dead sprint over the lap tops after landing on the one he had leapt onto. The hyur had a code that he lived by, there was a reason he had this armor. "No blood, no victory.." He uttered to himself as he ran. keeping the large bow horizontal to his side.

If Lyn was not already moving that would be an issue, meaning someone needed to carry him. Malgoth had bought them time but not much, a few minutes at most to get moving. Aehteryte travel may be expensive but they had best get used to it, lest they all get caught.

Kiht Jakkya was mentally and physically drained when Pyralis arrived. When he suddenly grabbed her, and moved her aside, she was shocked to see him, but did not outwardly show it. “P-Pyralis?” Kiht asked in a meek tone.

She watched him as he went to work on Lyn, and gave him the Elixir. Kiht didn't immediately seem hopeful. A regular potion would not save Lyn. She thought that he might even already be dead. She just couldn't process what was going on quickly enough. It was all happening so fast, and she felt as if she had failed.

She should have never let Lyn do this, she thought to herself. She could have stopped him. Could have ordered her clan to restrain him. Could have not gone along with his plan at all. She knew he wasn't invincible, but it seemed nothing short of something like this would teach him otherwise. However, that was a lesson she'd rather not have him pay for with his life.

On the other hand, Kiht didn't believe in taking away his freedom. Even if she could, it would not be what someone does to a person they love. So, she accepted his plan. She expected him to be more cautious. She should have known better. So many conflicting thoughts were in her head.

However, she was quickly snapped out of her trance-like state when Lyn let out a cough, reached for her and called her nick-name. Vekker, it meant 'beautiful one' in some exotic Hyur language. Lyn was not a Moon-keeper with a traditional upbringing, but that was another story. For now, Kiht could do nothing more but move closer so that he could touch her face, and she also gently touched his. “Lyn, I ...” Kiht said but was cut short by a loud noise on the roof above. She looked up to regard the mysterious Hyur who had shouted at them to run. Then he started doing something that Kiht didn't understand at first. He started attacking the incoming Brass Blades.

Kiht's mouth went agape in shock as he shot arrows at the law enforcement. She started to get furious. What in the Seven Hells was he doing!? She thought. Then Lyn's hands went weak, he still looked unable to move on his own. Kiht's attention was diverted back to Lyn for a moment. He needed further aid, but the Brass Blades would offer interrogation, and likely, imprisonment if they captured him. It was too obvious that Lyn was involved in what ever happened there. Still, Kiht could not justify the killing of Brass Blades who were only doing their jobs.

“Cease, you damned Hyur! The Brass Blades were not attacking us, and are not our enemies!” Kiht shouted to Malgoth, but to no avail. The Hyur with the bow just started shouting at them more; urging them to run away.

Kiht regarded Pyralis then regarded Lyn. All that ultimately mattered to her was getting Lyn to safety and treatment. The plan could be damned for all she cared, but Malgoth had already angered the Brass Blades. They would likely come in swinging their swords, and then ask questions later. Kiht was now forced to escape with Lyn, Pyralis and the body of the Sun-sister.

She pulled out her aetheryte shard that she thought would be spent by now. Maybe one more time. She only needed it to work one more time! She looked to Pyralis. “Are you going to come with us?” She asked him in an urgent tone.

If he answered yes, she would grab him by the arm or hand then grab Lyn's arm; holding them both at the same time. The Sun-sister was already laying on Lyn's legs so she was making contact too. If Pyralis answered no, Kiht would give him a nod, and say “I -will- repay you for this, Pyralis.” In a sincere tone. The vigor had returned to Kiht. Lyn had hope of surviving now. All Kiht had to do now was make the shard work.

She thought of Gridania, or Bentbranch Medows. However, nothing happened. She prayed to Menphina again, but that didn't seem like it was going to work a second time. “Gods damn it! One more time you worthless shard!” Kiht shouted in frustration. Suddenly, it hit her. Someplace closer! Perhaps she could get it to work if the distance wasn't so far. She just needed to get out of the city. Somewhere in Thanalan would work.

Kiht thought of Camp Drybone. Not an ideal place, but better than where they were. And, at that, the shard glowed slightly with a blue light. The vortex opened, and sucked them in right as Malgoth was charging at the Brass Blades.

At Camp Drybone, Kiht would tell the guards that they were a group of adventurers who had a horrible run-in with Amalj'aa. She would pay the guards to not ask any further questions, and pay for the aetheryte travel from Drbone to Bentbranch Meadows. It took almost all the gil Kiht had on her person. However, after the arrival in Bnetbranch, Kiht would call to her clan over a personal linkpearl she had just for keeping in contact with them. They arrived to aid Kiht and Lyn. However, there was nothing that could be done for the Sun-seeker girl. If Pyralis had come to either Drybone or Bentbranch with them, she would once again thank him. Not realizing that Pyralis had done what he did to repay a dept to Kiht, she would tell him that she was now in his dept. She had no idea how important that Elixir was to him, but she felt she owed him, nonetheless. Kiht would take Lyn to the rented hut in Greentear, and begin helping him recover.

Pyralis let out a small sigh of relief and leaned back as the miqo'te opened his eyes. With the severity of the wound Pyralis had truly believed he would not pull through. The hi-elixir did its job and saved the miqo'te's life but Pyralis was still upset that he even had to use it. The relief he once felt quickly was turning into rage as he examined his surroundings. Guards closing in, surrounded by death, helping strangers he hardly knew, this is not want he wanted. This is not who he was.

Fend for yourself, Pyralis thought darkly as he saw the affection between Lyn and Kiht. The care they showed for each other made Pyralis envious and stirred some anger inside of him. That bond they have...that love if that's what they call it...will get them killed, he thought snapping out of his daze as the random archer on the roof started shouting and downing the brass blades.

The very sight of the two brass blades, which were there to probably question and take them in, crumpling to the ground with the arrows made Pyralis flinch. He never much cared for guards as they would always try to lock him up for public drunkenness or getting into tavern fights but to kill them outright? Pyralis saw Kiht take out the aetheryte crystal in a hope to teleport them all. Her gaze turned to him and asked, “Are you going to come with us?”

"There's too many of us Kiht...it's not going to work." Kiht however grabbed him by the arm and Pyralis stared at her, Lyn, the dead sun-sister and the crystal.

“Gods damnit! One more time you worthless shard!” Kiht shouted in frustration. Pyralis was about to pull his arm free but the vortex swallowed them all.

Aetheryte traveling always left Pyralis feeling sick and the fact he still had alcohol in his system didn't help. When they arrived at Camp Drybone he quickly moved to the side of the group and threw up. That deep dark fury was building inside of him again, a tempest waiting to consume him and his emotions. The night was ruined, one of his greatest treasures was lost, and now he was likely to be sick from the alcohol and travel. He saw Kiht paying off some brass blades and knew they had one last destination, The Shroud. Being anywhere near Ul'dah was a terrible idea so getting as far away as possible was probably best. Reluctantly, Pyralis allowed Kiht to pay for the aetheryte travel again and prepared for the vortex.

Heroes die and glory is short lived, Pyralis thought. As they arrived at Bentbranch Meadows, Pyralis kneeled down woozy from the travel, alcohol, and the events that had happened. He ran his hand on through the grass and took in a deep breath. The clean air of the shroud did wonders when one was intoxicated. The shroud always brought him peace and cleared his mind when he was a wandering bard.

But he wasn't a bard anymore...he had given up the bow and harp which he craved to hold every waking second of his existence. The training with the axe was slow and he was nowhere near proficient enough to defend himself with it. If he were to run into a dangerous situation such as the one Lyn ran into, would he survive? No, I'd be dead and alone, Pyralis thought as he stood and turned to face Kiht. The fury inside him still burned at what happened and what he had to sacrifice. Fend for yourself, the voice inside Pyralis seemed to say stronger than ever. "You owe me no debt Kiht...I am no hero...just a survivor." he told the miqo’te with a hardened face and voice. He would hold his gaze on Kiht and say harshly with a sadness and anger behind his voice,  “I've lived my life alone fending for myself and survived this long...This –MESS- that -YOU- got me into Kiht has cost me too much. You, your -mate-, and the exiles are of no concern to me. Just leave me be...forget you know me or saw me. Give up on being a defender of these wretches...clearly it isn't working out." It wasn't fair to take out his anger and frustration on Kiht. But once the words started to come out of his mouth he couldn't stop them. So that's how you repay kindness? Pyralis thought clenching his fist.

Pyralis turned to leave Kiht to attend to Lyn. The tempestof anger still burned inside of him and a small pang of guilt felt as if it would eventually consume him. He was alone again in the world with enemies at every corner without an ally in sight. Pyralis walked away from Bentbranch Meadows on the path to Gridania. He examined himself and realized he was caked with blood. He reached up to throw away his linkpearl but held on to it; information would still be useful if he was to be by himself. Fend for yourself...you'll live longer,Pyralis thought. But why didn't it feel that way?
