I consider perma-death as you die in RP and delete the character.

As such, I wouldn't consider anything like that - Mostly since usually death is extremely cheap and proper gravitas is not given to someone dying in RP. I'd not allow Kellach's death being a cheap plot device. That doesn't mean he won't, or cannot lose. Just that if someone wants to kill him they'd better have a damned good idea to propose because right now I don't see his death as anything I'd desire.

Any of Aurimont, Neyra, Solyne (especially her - much as I love the concept I really only did that to have a drunken MNK) or Oblivion, sure.

My main is a whole other ballgame and one of the characters I've grown most attached to in quite a short time. To give you an idea, I have only one character in WoW out of the multitudes I created that I'd consider on that level, and it took me around 6 months and a lot of character development as well as lore reading.

I'd reached that spot around 2 months with Kellach. Only my CO main was faster and that's out of respect to my ex-girlfriend, since the character was kind of based around her experiences and that's all I'll say about that.

I would not permadeath Weaver and here is my reasoning. In a tabletop setting one can reroll a character very quickly. Instantly even, should you use a randomizer of some sort. In an mmo I spend a lot of time getting levels and acquiring a lovely wardrobe and home. Killing my main just seems too counterintuitive for my tastes.

That said my friends and I will often make alts who die in hilarious and unfashionable ways. The friend who invented this running gag has almost a hundred confirmed alt deaths.

If I had paid name changes and a spare fantasia, yes. I would perma death. Not over any 'ol thing, but I have several plots that could go that direction. Transfer name changing isn't an option for me for what I've spent on stuff that cannot be refunded. It's a thin line though, RPing a bad guy and staying alive. Very difficult sometimes.

...I would also have to plan out a whole new character I'm sure I like, before anything goes down like that.

Good to see you on here. Big Grin

Also.. Don't believe anything they say about me on here. It's all juicy lies.

"And now, back to the thread!"

Since I'm slightly RP impaired, perma-death is a bit too over the top for me. Unless I made an alt for story purposes.

Might as well toss my opinion in here.

Death is a strange concept for me to grasp irl and I have a hard time responding to it normally; however I still greatly dislike it and honestly over the past 7 years I've been rping I haven't had any of my characters die because I didn't want it and was in a position to avoid it most of the time.

I would be heartbroken if a char I'm very invested in died, granted you are aware of my altaholism so of course not all my chars mean to me as much as others. If my Ishgardian were to die I would be upset because he never got to achieve his full potential and be the knight I want him to be. This sort of thinking is what I use for my more minor and/or underdeveloped characters, however my more important chars like Valthoran, Merri, and Aurelia mean a whole hell of a lot to me and if they died I would make a new char dedicated to assassinating whoever was lucky and stupid enough to take me down, haha.

But to bring a solid answer to your question, no I don't think I could accept a perma-death situation unless I had very specific terms set in place beforehand. Granted my personal experience with my chars not dieing while having a lot of others chars around mine dieing makes me biased.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

I currently have all my 8 characters slots full, but at the same time, I know that when the new race (and more new races in the far future) will be released, I'll likely want to play as one.

So, when that will happen, I will likely resort to perma-death of one character in my roster.

To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.

"What makes a strong character is how they deal with their flaws, their fears, their turmoils, their troubles that get in the way. That's what makes them relatable." -- N.C.
