Okay, so there are numerous reasons my Temple Knights idea didn't fly - all of which are perfectly reasonable and detailed in another thread. That's cool, I'll just come back to it later.

So I had this other idea while hanging out in a huge crowd of Miqo'te in Limsa Lominsa. What about a group of Miqo'te that are both a tribe and a pirate crew? Like the tribe lives on and crews a ship, with the Captain being the tribal leader. The tribe could be the Sr' (sooruh) or Shark tribe. Anyone done anything like that before? Are there any lore specific reasons it wouldn't work?

I was actually joking with a friend about tigersharks. Catfish came up too.

Not that I'm aware of. There are Miqo'te tribes that live in La Noscea, as for which specific ones I cannot remember. (very tired as most of us probably are). But yeah, I haven't seen anything that says no.

I would totally volunteer my Miqo'te as being part of a pirate tribe. That sounds effing awesome.

I like the idea but I think you may struggle practically as you have excluded player based on race and theme. Also with the expansion Miqo'te numbers will drop.

My suggestion would be to aim for the theme not the race, give them some reason to be involved in the wider world. As Pirates it would be living the Pirate life across Eorzia and beyond. Something many do already.

Also with the arrival of ships.. Sky Pirates? in this world of tomorrow.

Seeing as one of the previous pirate powers was a crew made of only woman, I dont see why this wouldnt work.

I use this headcanon as part of my character's backstory actually. Her biological father was a Nunh of a seafaring sect of the Raptor tribe, based out of the Cieldaeles. They were a vicious pirate tribe that warred against Limsa. There's no lore saying this sort of thing isn't possible. And seeing how most Tribes are based out of La Noscea, having immigrated north from Meracydia across the southern isles, a maritime tribe seemed likely.

Alright then, this is probably the story and theme I'll go with, then. I might not limit it to just Miqo'te either, though I'd like the Miqo'te tribal aspect to be at the center of the group. Especially since the tribal aspect of the race is so commonly ignored.

I'm just throwing my support behind the idea of the Sr' Tribe!

So, so far the idea behind the tribe (and my character in it) boils down to this:

The Shark tribe - a seafaring offshoot of the Raptor tribe - took part in the naval battle against the Empire five years ago. Their ship, the Ominous Wake was sunk in that battle, taking most of the tribe with it. Those who survived were mostly too young or too old to crew the ship - or, like the current chief, occupied elsewhere. Now leadership has fallen to Sr'vassh, a former pirate now gone 'legit' (or legit enough). Without their ship, they aren't very good pirates - but Sr'vassh has a plan to fix that. Airships are very much a reality now - and Airship Pirates are not.

So we build a ship, get a crew, and plunder the sky.

Each man longs to pursue his dream. Each man is tortured by this dream, but the dream gives meaning to his life. Even if the dream ruins his life, man cannot allow himself to leave it behind. In this world, is man ever able to possess anything more solid, than a dream?
