Hello everyone, a pleasure to meet you! I've actually been on Balmung for a while now, lurking around and slowly working on my character. Things have been slowing down lately, so I've been wanting to get into some more serious RPing, but I haven't had too much success so far. A friend of mine suggested that I join the RPC and make a wiki page, so I thought, "Hey, why not!" Unfortunately, I'm terrible at introductions, so please forgive me for just following the suggestions.
--MMORPG background
My first was FFXI, actually. Immediately fell in love with it and played it almost religiously, from shortly after the NA launch until about partway through the Wings of the Goddess expansion. Played WoW for a couple months but didn't care for it at all, as well as a smattering of other MMOs like Aion, Tera, and Requiem, but none of them captivated me like XI.
Started playing FFXIV in the 1.0 beta and thought it was something of a disaster, tried it once again in the 2.0 beta and enjoyed it but never subscribed. Finally started playing it seriously on Brynhildr almost a year ago now and been loving it since then. Eventually made a character on Balmung since I wanted to get into RPing and it seemed like a much more lively place in general, and I haven't been disappointed!
--RP experience
Mostly casual. I'm a huge D&D fan, primarily 3.5 and 5, so that's where most of it comes from, but I've done a little in FFXI as well. So not a newbie, but far from experienced.
--Character ideas/info
I feel I have Naran's background and personality fleshed out pretty well so far. The short story is that she's a runaway from her tribe, grown tired of her ties of family life and driven by a desire to see all the sights the world has to offer. She stowed away on a ship bound for Eorzea and has been wandering by herself since then, never staying in any one place for too long.
I would, however, appreciate some feedback on another idea I had for her. I don't know much of the technical side of the lore, so I'm curious if accidentally coming into contact with strongly aspected crystals, corrupted or not, could leave a permanent effect on someone's body. Essentially an accident involving some large, powerful fire crystals left her with a more reddish skin tone and an unnaturally high body temperature. Would that be something that could make sense?
--How did you learn about the coalition?
I've known about it from the start, but I'm not really much of a forum person - I tend to either just lurk around or forget to check in on them, sadly. But after having it recommended to me I thought I may as well really jump in!
--What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy?
Medium, probably? Heavy sounds pretty intimidating to me at the moment, given I'm not too sure about my actual skill level, but maybe I'll be able to work my way up to it eventually!
--Anything from real life you'€™re comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc)
I'm probably the most boring, but contradictory person you could ever meet, haha! I have two degrees - one in game design, and one in accounting (currently looking for work in the latter) - so pretty much the two most opposite fields you could possibly imagine. Other than that I'm just your typical nerd, I enjoy all sorts of music, TV shows, and video games, as well as anime and manga, and, occasionally, reading novels.
This...became a lot longer than I thought it would, actually. I guess I may have rambled on a little more than I intended, so I apologize, but thanks for sticking with me! I'm looking forward to becoming part of the community and hopefully making new friends along the way!
