It's a RP census with a lot of RP questions, not a pve one... RP main character seems like the logical answer to me...

Look, I play three characters, two of which I honestly couldn't say which counts as my "main" for this census or much else for that matter. 1. Character I've been playing the longest, has all of the story and game events done, but RP has only been happening since I transferred her to Balmung a few months ago (not counting some character stories I posted to Lodestone a few times over the past couple years.) Now has her own in-depth story arc that I try to get to outside of the usual tome farming and stuff. In gameplay terms, she is my "main". 2. Character I've been playing on Balmung the longest. Due to leading a good sized FC on another server, besides some events here and there, he wasn't played much til about half a year ago or so when I started playing as him a lot more. This is the character people on this server 'met' me as. He's the one I drag to most RP events. He's almost done with HW msq (3.0), but due to 3.2 taking my time (yay new stuff) he's been stopped at the same point for months. Any RP with this guy is WAY more casual than the other two, but he's been the same 'character' since 2013 when he sat around in the Gridanian Adv. Guild trying to have a drink. Hell, I could even provide a convincing argument for my third... But no, I don't see the "main" question as clear cut and I doubt I'm the only one. I'm ultimately okay with the final decision of "you gotta pick one", I'm just saying why it's not necessarily an easy decision to some folks (and hence the "picking a favorite child" comment). ^^; (eta: Decided to re-do in favor of the suggestions that RP > PvE for the purpose of this questionnaire. I thought only the first two questions would be different, but really nearly all the answers changed. :o ) |

Polling is now closed.
In total, we received 244 valid responses. It will take me a bit of time to compile all the data for presentation, so please look forward to it! |

I remember the 2013 census. Really cool stuff you're doing here. Glad I got to participate in this one. Can't wait to see how it plays out. With the new race and Ishgard's recent bump in popularity, I'm curious to see how things have changed in the past three years. Your hard work is definitely appreciated.

Just a quick update. I have most of the data complete and nearly ready for presentation. It's going much faster than expected and I mostly will need to just get everything coded into a census page for final presentation. I predict to be done by Monday/Tuesday.
I have run into some issues with the primary source of income question. A high number of individuals wrote in something for "other," even though many of these clearly fall under a broader category already given. For example: "Thief" or "Crime lord" fall under "underworld dealings," not "other." This was pretty common for other categories as well (such as "writer," etc). I'm thus tallying these under where they belong, which means manually redoing some of the statistics in this category. This is causing a bit of a hold up on my end. In addition, there appears to be enough of one particular category (possibly two) that were written in and may be given a full category outside of "other." |
