Kurt believes that love is that thing called a relationship. He is holding that naive notion that someone out there is reserved for him. Though he hasn't had a significant other, he has it in his head to give the 110% and just try to do some damage control if he realizes that he would just be another fling or simply for another's fleeting amusement. It wouldn't hurt that bad right?

But what does Kurt know of love? He just got off a boat that was bound for Limsa Lominsa a few days ago.

There is no Love! Only Booze!

For real though. Hohenheim believes in the special bond created by individuals and how great it can be. He was dealt a piss poor hand by life, but the ideas has yet to Falter. He doesn't actively seek it himself at the moment due to the past (as well as being a Bum on the streets being overlooked by everyone else...and spending what little gil he do get on Booze) but it's there lol
