Well, to get a start to all this and be captain obvious. I'm new to both this game and the community here! I've been playing maybe.. 3 days now. But I've always been enchanted with the Final Fantasy world and all that goes on within it, my favorite game being FF9 even though people seem to dislike it!

I've played wow for years now, and have RPed within it for at least 7 or 8 years. How I found this place was literally searching 'Final fantasy xiv roleplay server' and it lead me to this website and Balmung, though I didn't start out on it. I met a really nice person on Sargantas, where I first started and made my character on who helped me learn the ropes of the game, even gave me a nice chunk of gil and weapons to level 50.

So far the community is really nice, a little surprising considering the server I come from on WoW! But it's getting dull and I decided to branch out so here I am. Normally I don't do these kind of posts since generally afraid of what people will say or think. Anyway I may as well follow the little optional guideline just to lay it all out on the table.

So I played WoW, TERA, 9dragons, Swordsman online, Warhammer age of reckoning, will be playing Eternal crusade when it's released, Aion, Cabal.. Uh..I think that's it.

My character I haven't really fleshed out, she's just weird I guess. Best way I can describe her till I sit down and RP her out for a little bit. As for RP I'm looking for, always been a heavy roleplayer with minor dedication to PVE and PVP content on any game I play.

Other than that, my characters became something most people disliked on WoW. No one really enjoyed villains and such anymore since everyone wanted to be the strongest ever. So the desire to be that antagonist slowly slipped away since no one likes to lose I guess. Maybe I'll make my character somewhat weird in that way? Who knows!

As for Ooc stuff, I tried to get my boyfriend to play but he said the combat was too slow for him, so I'm playing alone, currently saving up to go to culinary school while being a freelance writer to help with bills. Don't let my rambling paragraphs fool you, rather relaxed typing vs. actual serious writing is very different.

Went through some bad stuff in the last few months so I'm still just trying to get back on my feet, mindlessly leveling and burying troubles away everytime I hear the level fanfare. Currently level 38 after 3 days with a lancer at 17, pugilist at 15, and my ninja / rogue at the 38 so I think I'm not doing too bad!

Welcome to Balmung and the FFXIV RP community as a whole! You seem to know your way around MMOs and RP! The RP community can be a bit prohibitive to break into, but once you're there you will see how great this lot can be! I hear you on the whole.. bad things have happened.. Situation. I've been there a lot lately. Though, I'm pretty sure you are a strong Lady/Gentleman/Hildbrand/Person/Cat. You'll be Okay, and the FFXIV Community is a fun place to be, we got cats, cookies, love and roleplay! There's always something fun going on! I hope we can cheer you up and keep you happy!

Greetings. Â I'm new to FF14 as well. Â Played WOW have a level 90 Troll shaman and a level 90 Orc Hunter. Â

Rping Villains both fun and a challenge. Â I wouldn't say it's because people loose when they try a bad guy. Â For me it's that it's a struggle to get into that mindset and stay there. Â Harder to flush out a Villain character with out making him to sympathetic.Â

Right now I haven't started RPing in FF14 Arr yet. Â Trying to get into Belmung... got a fortune teller idea I'm working on. Â Just decided to change the character's race from a Miqo'te to a Lalafell. Â The main reason is I can see a Lalafell being an Astrologian and using the divining deck for fortune telling more then a Miqo'te. That upcoming Job opened up a different option then what I was starting on.

Anyway hope to get on Belmung soon and RP!

We've all been there with regards to disliked RP characters. Had a few people outright tell me that my character was just awful and that I should quit RP'ing in City of Villains. Apparently a heavy metal demoness with a sharp mouth who looked like she stepped out of a Blind Guardian or Black Sabbath album cover is not a terribly popular character.

That said, this community is the more welcoming for the most part. There can be a sense of cliqueyness about it looking at it from the outside, but making contacts and putting yourself out there now and again is one of the better methods of chipping in.

Failing that (or if you're painfully shy as I can be), then you're welcome to give either of my characters a poking. I mainline Steel Wolf most of the time, but either of my characters usually arrive at around 6-7pm EST most nights.

I roleplayed a Bartender at the Pocket D on Virtue a few times. Â Either as a Android or as a man that been burnt scars and all. Â The Bio Costume set with some very creative color choices worked well for someone who took an acid bath.

I tried a wide selections of despicable folks. Â From my Mentally insane Pixie, a rapist (was requested rp for a friend temp character), to a wannabe Skull trying to prove himself worthy and over doing it.Â

Steel I second the motion my Pixie Jem the Pixie would have welcomed hanging out with your demoness. Â Jem had a Bondage inspired outfit pure goth pixie power!

I feel your pain; it's a constant struggle to try to get my boyfriend to keep up with his sub and log into the game. He's not a fan of the combat, either, and having come here directly from TERA myself, I do understand the disappointment. Never the less, good luck getting back into the swing of things and I'm glad you made it through whatever you made it through!

Thanks all! I look forward to rping once I hit 50 on at least one job / class. I have this thing about rping while low level, just seem off, cause I can't look all pretty and stuff since low level gear is usually pretty bad. Then again I think she's just going to wear the Miqo'te start gear all the time with a pair of pants.
