It might change, but it probably won't. I was a bit unsure at first, fearing that there was too much cat-girl connotiation, but... I won't let that limit me, and the setting seem to be fine for playing serious Miqo'te characters, not just mewing kittengirls. I came for the ERP, I stayed for the free booze.
