- Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy):
Medium to heavy - the social/roleplay aspect is the primary reason I play MMOs.
- Views on RP combat and injuries:
I'm not afraid to put my characters through hell, and I often do so on a whim. Long-term injuries are entirely within the bounds of possibility, however, unless there's a compelling story angle for something, about the only thing that's going to be permanent is scarring, or maybe a limp. Again, that's assuming there isn't a compelling story angle for wounding him on a permanent basis. Wilhere is the kind of man who would, say, sacrifice his sight if he could learn to tap into channels that would let him "see" in some other way. As a roleplayer and storyteller, I love my Faustian bargains and sacrifices made for the sake of breaking limitations, and as Wilhere develops that's undoubtedly going to shape his story. I'm always flexible if there's a good enough idea to drive a plot development. As for combat itself, I'm open either to roll-based encounters or predetermining an outcome and writing accordingly.
- Views on IC romance:
I'll admit it - I'm a bit of a sap when it comes to this stuff, and I'd have no qualms with Wilhere having a lady friend of his own. I don't want romance to be the entirety of my RP, and I'd like any romance that unfolds to play into a larger context, but if the right lass comes along for him I'd be on board.
- Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc):
I'd love for something to develop on this front. I've kept Wilhere's past vague in large part because I want to allow room for it to come back to bite him; I want people he's known to stumble back into his life and either give him hell for things he's done or to beg him to come back or somesuch. Again, I'm pretty open to suggestions here, and I'd be willing to work with a number of different story ideas.
- Views on lore:
I stick to lore as best I can, and if I'm mistaken on some aspect of it when I write my character, I'll more often than not retcon it to fall back in line with the world I inhabit. I figure if I wanted to disregard a game's lore I have no reason to roleplay in it; there's a thousand other original worlds or fan fiction forums where I could do whatever I wanted, so if I'm going to write and roleplay within FFXIV's setting, I want to adapt to it as best I can. With that said, I'm not exactly a lore nazi. I'm willing to allow a bit of lore-bending and creativity when it comes to blank spots in the lore, or if somebody puts an interesting enough twist on something that I want to see where it goes. Regardless, there's a lot of lore to sift through, so I don't aim for perfection and I don't expect perfection from anybody else. I just want to spend my time roleplaying with people who have interesting ideas and who do their best to adhere to what Square's writers have crafted.
- Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc):
I prefer roleplaying in tells or party chat simply because I find it far easier to keep track of everything that's going on, especially if other roleplayers are around. I have absolutely nothing against roleplaying in /say or /em, though, I just ask a bit of patience if I need time to sift through posts after two or three people go around the same time.Â
