Ok, so I have myself a Qestir who I'm currently leveling within the game but made to rp with.

I'm just having trouble figuring out a good rp angle to take him and so was wondering what other Qestir players have for reasons for leaving their home and traveling to Eorzia.

I've been leaning on a "With the influx of foreigners into the Steeps after Doma's liberation, he has gone to Eorzia to find goods that can be safely traded in the Steeps and not upset the balance" which is leading me to find a merchant rp group if I go this angle.

I'm just trying to see what other options there could be as I take him through ARR and eventually HW and SB.

I'd say that your aforementioned idea works well enough. Could also be a personal mission to gather information about the outside world. As a few of the quests showed, understanding each other is vital--maybe your Qestir wants to get ahead of the curve. Then maybe there's just a personal desire to get away from the Steppe and see what's beyond their borders.

I imagine that with all that's happened, more and more of the Xaela will likely grow curious about what kind of world their guests came from, and how it forged them into who they are.

I have a much neglected Qestir alt of my own, and the reasoning in which she had left was that she spoke inside her tribe just once under circumstances that made sense for an outcry but still was quite damnable from a Qestir perspective. The action was not tolerated as it even came between their attempts of keeping order, and she was exiled with no chance for immediate redemption. Being a bit prideful and already hungering to see more of the world, she wandered through the Steppes to see what she hadn't yet, and finally wound up at a port loudly boasting ferrying to Eorzea. After a bit of thought, she conceded, "Why not. I've nothing left for me here."

What you said works well enough I'd think and I'd encourage you to think about your Qestir's possible homesickness, because I think xaela are a great opportunity to explore that theme!
