I know I am relatively new here, and I'm not sure where this would go... But as fellow gamers I felt like I needed to at least share this information with you.
On Saturday, November 2nd there is a charity event called Extra Life. It benefits Children's Hospitals all over the country (USA). Basically, you as the player collect donations, then instead of running a marathon or walking 30 miles for a cause, you play video games for 25 hours straight! Usually, you would ask for 1$ per hour played, so a donation of 25$ per person, but you can accept as little or as much as you want. The website makes it super easy.
I did this myself last year, and it was great fun. If you have a small group of friends, or even a bunch, all playing games with each other for a full day + 1 hour, it gets pretty insane by the end.
My (small) guild in GW2 and I made a team donation page. Feel free to check it out, if you'd like. If you are interested in joining the event, and want company while you do it, we'd love to have you as well! Anyone is welcome. (PM me for details if you're interested. We have skype/mumble on our guild website. :D )
Or you can make your own page/team. It really is very flexible in what you want to do. You choose your own goals, team/no team, and even which Children's Hospital receives your donations.Â
If you don't want to participate in the marathon, but have a few extra bucks to spare, it'd be great if you could donate either to my page or my team's. Any little bit is awesome and obviously goes to a wonderful cause. Or if you don't have the funds, just encouraging any friends you have involved would be a BIG help too! They will need it mid-way. Trust me. XD
