A very small part of Tiergan's backstory is that he eventually joined the Immortal Blades Free Brigade. However - I never really knew enough about the Free Brigade to really RP that aspect of him out or really explore it. Lately though, I've been wanting to poke at it a bit further so I'm hoping folks can help me sort things out.

If an adventurer joins the Free Brigade, is it essentially like joining the military in that being in the Immortal Flames is now his/her job? Would Tiergan not be able to travel around and get other business accomplished because he'd be too busy devoting most of his hours to serving Ul'dah? Or would he be able to just lend a hand on an occasional basis?

I've assumed it was sort of like a modern military reservist/national guard status. Like in the main story, when Ul'dah is under a great threat, you're given tasks to do to do in order to protect the city. Almost like a quest you'd be called up and asked to help for the duration of a certain situation, though smaller things might come up from time to time. While you're directly acting under them you'd need to respect their chain of command and such, but 95% of the time you can still do your own thing.

What they said! Val was also in the Free Brigade and I've more or less RPed that he was "on call" or so, or had a sudden job he had to take care of when I took off or.. whatever, not unlike what they said.
