Ixarien was raised a boy of two worlds. With a mother who loved the solace of Gridania and a father who was an avid researcher in Limsa Lominsa, Ixarien spent ample time in both cities. He became an arcanist at his father's behest and studied at the guild where his father worked for a time until returning to Gridania to assist the nation's efforts in protecting its borders from Garlean intrusions.

It was here that Ixarien met his future wife and quickly married in a time when conflict between the Empire and Eorzea loomed on the horizon. Nine months passed and Dalamud began to fall from the heavens as Ixarien's wife brought forth a son. Men and women of Gridania were called to defend not only the nation but Eorzea itself. As the Alliance stood stalwart on the flats of Carteneau, Ixarien joined the army and was immediately stationed in Gridania to protect the citizens should the war spill over its borders.

While steel and magic raged, Dalamud broke asunder. Ixarien watched as fire rained from the sky and felt as the world shook beneath him, signaling the end of an era.

For five years Ixarien served the Twin Adders but never advanced far in rank. With a family to support, pay for a lowly soldier was not enough. His wife pressured him to become an adventurer, those same folk she had seen running about with seemingly endless coin. At her urging, Ixarien withdrew from his nation's grand company and applied at the Adventurer's Guild.

Unfortunately, adventuring wasn't as easy as he had hoped. Coin continued to be scarce. Ixarien's wife threw him out of their house and took up with another man (or so he suspects), leaving him wandering from one innkeep to the next. He sends gil and toys for his small boy when he can, but lately all he seems to do is drink...
