Having been an outsider to these lands when he arrived in them, Konner (Kin) Kinkaid learned of the ways of those whom are often forgotten.
Kin had lived by the idea that there were those whom were often forced into a fate not of their choosing, and as such, must often be aided in coming out of such circumstances by others whom are to do so.
There are those whom choose to be strangers and those whom would choose to be friends. Kin always sought the later.
It was during these early days when Kin first came to the lands from the east, before the lesser moon fell from the sky, that he lived and worked along side many of the so-called 'forgotten'.  While living with them, he was always attempting to learn the ways of these lands. Â
These whom were often cast out seemed to be the only ones willing to work along side of him. He retruned the favor by aiding them the best that he could through various workings and jobs.Â
The sick, the ill, the oppressed, the meek, the weak, the young, the elderly, the innocent and the displaced all found favor with him and in turn, he learned of their struggles and desires.
After having fought for his own reasons with those that stood against the Empire the night they brought the moon down, and finding that only one friend from before remained in the new world he awoke to, Kin discovered even more in need of aid in the aftermath.
As a retainer and one whom lives to serve, he lacked a master to guide him, but not the desire to aid. As such, he began to understand that even as most others saw him as very different from others, if there were others like him, those that desired to aid, his and their differences could be lessened by the desire to aid those in need.
And thus the Order of the Sword and Rose was born by this desire. The Sword to represent the strength needed to complete the task and the strain that it shall cause and the rose to represent the piety to aid those whom need it most and the passion to always seek to do so.Â
And thus by our motto in our founder's native tongue, we strive:
Hitoride Wanai - 'Not Alone'Â - For serving together to aid others, we become more free.
The Order of the Sword and Rose begin as a linkshell in Final Fantasy 11. At its peak it had 78 members.
When faceman7381 (Konner Kinkaid) came to Final Fantasy 14, he wanted to have a linkshell that would foster his roleplaying (The Seven) and a Free Company that would help with his gaming (The Order of the Sword and Rose).
The Order began with faceman7381 and his real life friends leveling and seeking to establish it here as it was on Final Fantasy 11. While faceman7381 focussed on his roleplaying, his other friends quickly leveled to 50 and end game.Â
Although their grinding helped build the Free Company in both ranks and status with the Grand Companies, the members desired to move on to Free Companies that favored end game. As such, faceman7381 was forced to reform the Order.
After the success of the linkshell, The Seven, and the overwhelming demand for more people to participate in it, several of the members of The Seven joined the Order. It was decided to reform the Order into a Free Company that would be a place to foster strong character developement with a continuting epic story styled arc and smaller rp meet and greet events.
So here we are now, prepared to start anew.

"We, bound here, in blood, and as one, now swear upon this day and to all present before us on this now hollowed ground, that we are hereby born anew as kin of a most sacred Order."
"A brotherhood of beings whom would at this moment, pledge to give our lives for the pursuit of knowledge of legends long lost to the passage of time and to the protection and assistance of those in dire need of such."
"We pledge and swear of true oath to do these things not for ourselves, but for each other and those whom cannot otherwise for themselves."
"Ours is a simple way, that of the sword and the rose. From the sword, the strength to wield it against those whom would seek to harm our own or those in our need and the struggle to continue to strive to do so; and from the rose , the piety to live within ourselves and not beyond us and the passion to always seek to do as we have pledged and sworn to do so."
"For it is through these symbols we come to know our motto, Hitoride Wanai - Not Alone. As such, we are no longer, nor are those in need of us."
"Those in need we are to heed, for theirs is a fate most dire. Now, on bended knee, you shall see those of the Order they admire."
