What do you do if you're a player with anxiety issues? How do you manage those problems on your quest to be popular?

Great question! Â There are a ton of resources here on the RPC for finding linkshells, which can help a lot in finding people to RP with, but that's easy mode! Â Let's talk about events instead! Â Many FCs hold weekly or monthly events, which provide opportunities to meet new people in a situation with a ton of new people!

Many events serve a double role as recruiting opportunities, and there's usually someone there on the lookout for new people to help integrate into the group. Â If you're of a more fighting mindset you can check out The Grindstone, or other combat events. Â Even if you're not a fighter, cheering for your favorite contestant can often lead to some great interaction with the others in the crowd.

Remember, you don't always have to approach groups or individuals, and attending open events is a great way to get noticed in a setting where new blood is always welcome.

If even this is a bit too much for you, bring in a friend from outside the game, or maybe ask someone OOC for help if they seem nice and knowledgeable. Â Unfortunately, meeting new people requires talking to them, so there's no real way to avoid that, unless someone were to start an Eorzean speed dating RP service. Â Hey, maybe that person could be you! Â I'd attend that event!

This is a great thread, like super great. ( Of course it's great, it's full of Mean Girls gifs. ) It has a lot of helpful advice that I think a lot of people should look at, especially the 'be social' element. RP doesn't come to you - if it did you got lucky. You need to find it, and put yourself out there. Someone gave me some great advice on that recently. ( Just don't overwhelm yourself either. )

Sometimes there are gonna be some groups that you just can't get into. Â Either your character concept doesn't fit in or their schedule is just too full to spend much time helping out new people at the moment. Â There's nothing wrong with that, and there's nothing wrong with you either. Â Just let that experience go. Â Continuing to try to get into a group that isn't immediately welcoming can sour your moods on each other pretty quick, so sometimes it's best to move on and keep trying somewhere else.

Don't worry. Â You can, and will, find RP that's right for you. Â There are so many RPers with so many different styles that there is a place for everyone. Â If you follow the steps from the guide on the first page then you will end up with friends who can appreciate you as much as you deserve, and you do deserve it!

Remember, you're great, and just because not everyone sees it doesn't mean nobody does.

Yeah, I will always dig a Heathers reference. I always fall asleep though when I mean to finally finish watching it. I'M SORRY! x.x

However, great guide. I like that the highlight is on entertaining others, because, really, that's been my experience as well. In TOR, I made it a point to be entertaining to others. While in-character, other characters often disliked my character or were extremely leery of her (with good reason) without fail I was told out-of-character people had a great time, and I made them laugh.Â

Thank you for the emphasis on a more selfless approach to generating RP opportunities for oneself and others.

RP for others, listen to them, get them to talk, help them progress their story, provide some incentives, adapt to them, bustle them along.. etc,..

Do that and you get paid back tenfold!
