I know this is a bit of a "nobody should really care, yadda yadda" sort of thing, but I always feel more calm after saying something about a problem I'm having regardless of how meaningless it is.

SO... My computer has been acting like a butt face lately, graphics card sounding like it's slowly dying, hard drive now acting a little off, etc. and I'm a little nervous about what may happen. Fortunately, we're bringing it to a specialist on Monday to have it looked at a repaired (I am told the guy said the problems can be fixed. But of course that means I won't be in-game for a while. On the bright side, I can still access the forum on my phone, so that's covered. But I feel like my life and all I do is on this computer so not being on it for a while feels... weird. With all that said, thank you for giving me the chance to let this out and let you know, and I hope to get right back into the swing of things very soon. Life has gotten so dependent on access to a computer these days that it really does feel weird when you... don't have it. I've always felt super out of sorts whenever my computers act up and won't start or whatever - so I totally feel you on it. All I can really offer is that it'll pass and hopefully your stuff can be fixed!

... Though, if you have anything important on your machine, it might be worth backing it up just in case any of it can't. Trust me on that one. Blush

I agree with backing up your files... I learned that the hard way a few computers ago. Just hang in there, hopefully your computer is fixable! The last time I had to be offline for awhile, I worked a lot on my writing and watched a lot of TV lol. Hopefully you'll find some stuff to do on your down time, but if you're wanting to RP, writing is a great alternative, plus you could always get into RPs on here, I've never tried it, but it looks fun. Anyways, good luck!

RP thru skype/discord or even the PM system as was mentioned above are all good options for deal I with the downtime of your PC. Of course there are always other options such as perusing or trying out a different hobby, hang in out with friends or watching tv/movies.

The key is to keep yourself busy and hoping from one thing to another.

I do a loooootttt of RP via Skype since it allows me time to get my RP fix while also being able to do content so I don't get too far behind!

I know exactly what you mean, it can be rough if you suddenly don't have access to a PC for a certain amount of time. Like Gegenji said, life has become very indendent on it! Or at least the internet in general. Fortunately there are things like forum RP and Skype/Discord RP if the game itself is giving you trouble. And outside of the PC, there is also the great outdoors...even if it's terrifying. Fresh air, what do

Hopefully the specialist will be able to clear things up on Monday. Just keep your head up! Take things one step at a time so as not to overwhelm yourself with worry, and soon you'll be running around ingame with us again in no time! Big Grin

Little update: Hard Drive seems to have now been fixed by a proper reset, so I think I may be back a bit sooner than expected. It all depends on how much the fan on my GPU can withstand. We may still get it sent to be fixed, but probably not as soon as we need it to right now.

This is why I never keep anything important on a computer anymore. If there is anything on there that you cannot bear to lose, print it out and keep it in a fire-box. If my computer dies tonight all I lose are my save game files

Newest update: computer seems to be acting worse now. We're taking it in to have it looked at now. So I'll be gone for a while from the game.

Odd to think that the predication about computers was they would be so efficient and reliable that we'd be down to 3 day work weeks.

Now, my work PC cannot run without an error every 3 days so not sure what genius came up with that shit.

Anyways, sorry to hear about the PC issues. Perhaps some Skype/Discord RP will be in your future, and you always have the forums here to browse on your phone.

Good news: today I was given a call that they will be upgrading my graphics card from a G4 640 to a 730 as well as an external fan to compensate for the extra power.
Bad news: right now the whole thing will be about $200, and we won't be able to afford it right away. So... I will be gone for at least another week ;n;

Good news, everyone! My computer is completely fixed. Unfortunately I'm gonna have to wait a while before we can afford the payment. Either way, I'll be back in Eorzea by the end of next weekend max.
