It's been a while since I wrote one of these, hasn't it?  As such, first on the list of things to do is to give a huge thank you to all who have taken up the burden of report writing in my administrative absence!  Thank you.  Your sacrifice is appreciated <3 Now... "what's been going on?" I hear a voice in the crowd call! Hoo boy, I'm glad you asked!  (Although you're no doubt going to regret that, afore I'm done typing War and Peace.) First off we've had a load of internal events popping up from all over!  Members, officers,  Inarah, and even one from yours truly looming on the horizon (Two days from when I'm typing this, in fact!  Eep.) Of those events... Let's start with the first event of the month! (Two events, actually.  A busy month for our Velhi/Ryder!) Alas! I wasn't present for the event (Got to keep the numbers down, else things just get crazy to manage) As such, I shall hand you over to the man himself for a summary of just what happened during his two 'Crimson Seas' events: Quote:First one was with Alia, Dhala, Zaoka, Thya and Arnvidar. They went to a noble party; Alia, Thya and Zaoka went as nobles, Dhala as a courtesan because Velhi only had 3 invites, and Arn as Alia's bodyguard. Basically, they went to infiltrate a noble party to gather information about who poisoned the Aldgoat tribe; they went for a subtle approach by not killing, and talking and persuading the nobles present. After gaining like 20 tidbits of information, they found out it were the Goldenhearths and so in the next event they went to the Goldenhearth's island in Vylbrand and were met with Lloyd (Goldenhearth). they arrived with Velhi's ship, and Lloyd said he'd trade the cure if they handed Velhi over. they did, and then the Aldgoat tribe/crew of the ship got attacked, and the people were forced to retreat (except Thya and Zel) while Velhi was taken in. A couple guard combat encounters later, and they meet Lloyd once more with a fake glamoured dead body of Velhi, and he basically wipes everyone but Zelenha with poison mist, and then gets his legs cut off by undead Thya. The poison mist fades, they free real Velhi from the prison, and he shoots unconscious Lloyd in the head and everyone's cured \o/ Poetry! We also had the beginning of Inarah's series of events, funnily enough going by the title of 'A Series of Unforunate Events', whereupon the Jackals set off for the Shroud to investigate a simple haunting that... in the typical way of things, soon exploded into a voidsent hunt across three floors, a hidden basement (So four floors?) and no doubt left some of the more impressionable, younger Jackals in the unenviable position of having nightmares for the coming Moons! I was present for this one, so have some screenshots! Show Content A Series of Screenshots(The full album can be found: http://imgur.com/a/d8EKU ) Part two takes place tomorrow night, with at least one more scheduled to take place in the near future!  I think there might even be a fourth finalé, but that's up to Inarah to know, and for me to speculate about~ Resident officer and medic, Zao, led another of this months events!  An entirely above board event that should serve as a shining beacon to every Eorzean past, present and future.  In other words, we were hired to do some dubious things to people of equally dubious morality.  Eorzea wins either way, so our consciences rest easy! We also happen to have some screenshots taken by Zao for the event for your appraisal also! Show Content Cuckoo for Kukuru But wait, there's more!  We also had an event tonight, led by the recently returned Rufus!  A tale of introspection, intrigue, and whacking down great numbers of skeletons!  My favourite kind of introspection, in short.  Naturally, the mission was a success, and yet more screenshots were taken! Show Content Rufus' Probably Return to the Light(The full album can be found: http://imgur.com/a/ipBgr ) What else, what else... oh!  We had the Sunny Seaside Bar (Obviously!), we cleared Coil several more times in anticipation of the new 3.4 story, set up a static group that shows considerable potential, and we have yet more events to come over the coming weeks.  It's all gotten rather busy with the Jackals of late!  And that's precisely how yours truly likes it. Rosamund led us all on a series of journeys throughout Eorzea, tracking down voidsent and closing void tears. Rufus struggled with his inner dark side and came out victorious, once more a champion of the light. Ryder sent us into the Great Gubal Library in search of remnants of his heritage, battling all the strange monsters and magic that laid within. Pond had the pack reclaim relics of Azeyma from bandits and Zaoka took us salvaging on the Isles of Umbra. Hanging over our heads during all of this, a figure cloaked in mystery was watching our every step, leading to the brutal murder of one of our own, Maral Ura. Declaring vengeance would be had, we chased down leads and eventually uncovered the mastermind's identity. We have only to hunt down the killer and end this threat to the Jackals once and for all. On the more lighthearted side, we opened up the Sunny Seaside Bar again with performances by our own resident bard, Ryder, and threw a mighty fine shindig in honour of All Saints' Wake, complete with a haunted mansion tour. Finally, our company static has been making great progress, clearing Sophia Ex and A9S! Well done, everyone, and keep doing us proud! We began by apprehending the mastermind behind the murder of Maral Ura, throwing the slave-trading pirate into the hands of the Maelstrom. Ryder sent us into Gubal Library once more and then to Tailfeather to investigate some strange occurrences surrounding the wild chocobo population. Thya and her band of brave adventurers escaped the depths of long forgotten ruins deep in the Shroud whilst it was all hands on deck for Coerthas Job: Take Two. When not busy shedding blood and delivering justice, we had a well earnt evening of relaxation with the Sunny Seaside Bar and some team building via a game of dodgeball. Thya and Inarah led their teams to victory but Bert and Kilid vow they'll have their revenge soon! Next month is shaping up to be just as fun-filled and action-packed as the last although we'll have plenty of time for celebrating Starlight and showing our appreciation to all our friends and family in the Jackals. An intense one, to be sure, with an ending to match. This month saw the conclusion of Ryder's long and arduous search for his heritage, sending a party of dauntless Jackals into the depths of the Great Library for one last round of deadly riddles. The company braved another blast from the past courtesy of Camerin. Initially in disguise, she led a trusted few along for what by all accounts seemed like a clear case of good old-fashioned payback, but soon took a turn for the sinister. Few escaped unscathed, and a visit to the nearby Matron's Reach clinic proved necessary. And that wasn't all. Though it is well known that any true Jackal finds trouble around every figurative and literal corner, sometimes trouble is more careful to reveal itself -- and decidedly sneaky about it. Threads of intrigue spun into veritable webs as the company journeyed to Ishgard in pursuit of the elusive truth behind their recent misadventures in Coerthas; only suns later, another job in the Twelveswood went foul when a client turned out to have some particularly nasty employers of his own... The company's healers more than earned their pay this month. Life wasn't all bad, though; the Jackal mansion played host to the musical masterpieces of Savo Kesslivang -- famed as much for her artistry as her fleas -- drawing dozens of fans from across the realm! It's been a busy year indeed. Many new faces joining, a few old ones returning. Some found love, others found bitter enemies. A proud few even became parents. Suffice it to say, we can't wait to see what the next will bring!

Oh, hello?  Is it my time to write one of these again?  My, but time flies, doesn't it? (Note before I get started: Under threat of having a cat dropped on me by Inarah, I'm to keep this one brief so it fits on our Enjin page without major tweaks on her part, so you all lucked out!) So, what's been going on in Jackal-land?  Plenty! We'll start off with our somewhat risky strike at a privately funded group hailing from Doma who, for reasons still unbeknownst to us, appeared to have taken issue with the life-status of our resident priest, Sini'to, and wanted to flip his switch from 'on' to 'off'.  That went better for us than it did the Domans, who really aren't having a great few years as a nation, what can you do? Next up in the noteworthies would, as ever, be the Sunny Seaside Bar.  It wouldn't be right to have a month go by without the bar, and so shades were once more donned, metaphorical doors swung open, and the unwashed masses welcomed with open arms at a safe and acceptable distance! Lessee... next up came Kaya's job in Thanalan, undertaken on behalf of, and at the best of, the Ul'dah Miner's Guild.  Some innocent Drakes made some poor life choices that led to them deciding to make a den around a mythril deposit that the miners really, really wanted.  Bad.  Bad enough to part with some coin to hire an unscrupulous band of bad tempered blades to swoop in and sort it out.  So, after one of the local U' tribe pointed them in the right direction (And held their hand on the way to the spot), the Jackals earned their pay, in the form of a cache of ores and coin. This was followed by Tei's Teirrific Time performance night that I had nothing whatsoever to do with naming, I swear.  Lots of performers, lots of entertainment, and hopefully, lots of fun had that eve! We celebrated two years of existing the only way we know how, drink and swimwear... And finally, we rounded out the month with the (likely) penultimate event in Inarah's current alt-storyline!  No screenshots of this yet, but a three-way bust-up occurred between the Jackals, Ishgard's finest, and Ishgard's worst. Oi oi, lads, lasses and fellas with glasses!~ Zaoka here, with our monthly update for the happenings in Jackal and Hide. While things have been relatively quiet for the most part, we have not been entirely without events! Our first job of the month began with a call to the war room from Jackal and Hides very own bard, Ryder Baily. The Jackals had been contracted to retrieve a rather nasty payload of weapons from a black market located in Thanalan before they fell into the hands of some rather unscrupulous individuals. Our band of rogues were able to infiltrate the black market under the guise of two rival buyers and their retainers. Using their wits, the Jackals were able to find a means of breaking into the warehouse in which the weapons were stored and spirit them away, successfully fulfilling the contract. It wasn’t all acts of espionage  though, following the second Anniversary ofJackal and Hide, we also held the Sunny Seaside bar, hosted by myself in Inarah and Kilid’s stead. As means of celebrating the Free Companies second anniversary with those from outside the Company, two free drinks were offered to all patrons, and they were to enjoy a night of performances. Special thanks to the Drunken Moogles very own Rhyan Charm and A'nara Nitsah who performed that night and to those who helped staff the bar. It wouldn’t have been a success without you all! With that we also saw the conclusion of the Jackals Story:All that Glitters, in which the Jackals found themselves coming face to face with the mastermind of the web of intrigue that they had found themselves tangled in. After fighting their way through the villain, Orraut’s minions and a gruelling battle with the fiend himself, in which many found themselves injured during, the Jackals found themselves victorious and were able to rescue the captured Lady Symonne. As the month drew to a close, we found ourselves in receipt of a visitation from from an Officer of the Twin Adders, requesting the aid from various adventurers before happening across the Jackals. Taking the name and rank of the officer for verification (As well as to invoice a commission once the job was done) a group of Jackals volunteered to aid the man in dealing with a cult who’s flame was thought to have long since extinguished. And thus concludes our report for this week. We’re looking forward to seeing what the next few months will bring us as we draw ever closer to the release of Stormblood and hope to see you all around!   Kind Regards Jackal and Hide.

Recruitment We’ve recently opened our doors to new recruits and foundourselves closing them just as fast as we received one of our largest intakes since last year. We’d all like to provide a warm welcome to; Drazi Rae, Lallatte Latte, Klynk Wiltkoel, Subtei Noykin, Neyuki Utaura, Valkyrie Pleasant, Beatrix Vronhilde and Zuzura Zura! Events Things kicked off with a tale of adventure on the high seas,when the members of Jackal and Hide were hired to serve as armed guard for the crew of the merchant vessel, The Wardens Glory, bound on a voyage to an uncharted island south of La Noscea. It did not take long for trouble to find them, as the group found themselves caught up in a skirmish between two rival Pirate factions. Choosing to aid one of the pirates in the hopes that they would owe them a favour, the Jackals were able to successfully drive off the other faction and continue their voyage unimpeded.   We also hosted our Monthly bar located in the Hidden Falls ofCosta Del Sol, where we saw a great turn out. Special thanks to our performers Mishi, Min and Nara, who provided the entertainment for the evening, as well as Adham, Kaya and Thya who helped serve those visiting the bar whilst I hosted the event. All of you were a great help and the bar wouldn’t have been a success without you! Though the high spirits brought by the success of previousmissions and much earned R and R at the seaside bar were not to last. The Jackals found themselves saying a solemn farewell to two of their number when they were called to perform another job. Faced with a choice, obtain a weapon for a group of pirates or storm a group of bandits to take out their leaders, the Jackals chose the latter, not wholly comfortable with the idea of arming a group of known pirates. While it all went off to a good start, the Jackals soon found themselves coming under assault from an airship, and vastly outnumbered by their foes. When the dust had finally settled, the Jackals found themselves victorious, though at the cost of the lives of Rhaja and Tailero.   In order to recoup the lost spirits, Kilid called theJackals to the beach of the Mists, where they would take part in the time-honoured Jackal tradition of dodgeball.   Project: Thank Yoshida In the wake of PAX it didn’t take long for us to hear aboutthe Project: Thank Yoshida initiative. All deciding it was a good idea, we gathered together in order to take a screenshot as a group in order to show our thanks for all of his hard work and wish him and the FFXIV team the best of luck for the release of Stormblood! Conclusion With Heavensward coming to an end and Stormblood fastapproaching. There has been no sign of things winding down within the Free Company, as we have had no shortage of events over the past month. Now as we prepare for 4.0 we also find ourselves preparing for travels to Othard and the port town of Kugane. Probation Following last month’s largest intake since summer lastyear, we’d like to congratulate Drazi Rae, Klynk Wiltkoel, Subetei Noykin and Neyuki Utaura on successfully passing their probation and becoming full members of the crew! Events As we entered the first turn of a new Moon, the Jackals were summoned to the aptly named “War Room” where they were faced with yet another choice to make, this time the means of securing a vessel for a long-standing business venture. Steal a ship from a known group of retired privateers, or infiltrate a noble’s ball and rob them blind without anyone being none the wiser. Naturally, the Jackals opted to rub elbows with those of a more privileged station and made ready to infiltrate the ball. The operation was a success, with the jackals making off with a considerable sum of valuables from the noble’s estate, all to be fenced off in order to provide the funds to secure a sea faring vessel of their own. A sizeable number of Jackals took part in the Spell Breaker Tournament,in which wielders of Iron and fist duelled against wielders of Aether. The Mages met their defeat at the hands of the Mercenaries and both teams were tended to by the healers of the Matrons Reach network, who were standing by, ready to provide succor to those who needed it. In the coming suns the Jackals found themselves taking on a contract to brave the unforgiving forestlands of the Black Shroud in order to protect a group of Conjurers as they went about purging a foul taint that was plaguing the area. Splitting into two parties, the Jackals found themselves being assailed by the enraged flora and fauna, drawn to the call of the Elementals. Though they had to be careful, for even felling a single beast could have resulted in drawing further ire from the forest. Both parties were able to fulfil the contract to the letter and protect the conjurers from the marauding beasts without spilling a single drop of blood, and thus the forests rage was quelled, for now at least. Though the excitement did not end there, for the Jackals were once again called upon to salvage a derelict vessel, this time an Airship that had run aground in the region of Coerthas, specifically a crate of highly valuable Lumythrite ore. When the Jackals arrived they found the vessel in good condition, though the bitter cold was doing its best to make its claim on the downed airship. Though the battle with the elements, and the ships failing structural integrity soon became a race against the clock as the crew tried to locate their prize as an advancing blizzard threatened to roll in. The Jackals were able to locate the precious ore and retrieved the crate in which it was contained, with the barest of moments left in their window to depart.   Preparing for StormBlood We’ve been working hard to prepare for StormBlood’s release.Thanks to a group effort we were able to successfully complete building a grade 3 wheel stand for the FC house, as well as unlock the required schematics to create five grade 3 wheels of pilgrimage and confrontation in order to provide us with enough Heat of Battle III and Reduced Rates III to last five days into launch. Our very own Ryder Bailey took several of our members out on map runs to raise funds to refurbish the estate once 4.0 rolls over with the item limit increase and was able to successfully raise 2 million Gil at the end! Conclusion I want to thank all of our members for their hard work this past month. I think it’s safe to say that we’re more than ready to take on 4.0 once it’s released! A fair few of us are eagerly awaiting what Square Enix has in store for us, even more so in following the recent Letter from the Producer! Aelia and Rufus both sent us to investigate mines in Thanalan, with the former involving a moral quandry that caused friction in the pack, and the latter resulting in a bloody battle with a powerful mage. Meanwhile, another jade chocobo adventure ended without too much difficulty and a hefty treasure hoard. Who knows where the next stone tablet will lead? We opened up the Sunny Seaside Bar again with dodgeball for our entertainment. Team "The Best Team", led by Rufus, won the first match and Team "Creamy", led by Kaya, won the second. Kilid's excited to start up a proper league and tournaments in the future, so watch this space! What's in store for us next? We've heard the drums of war beating in the distance and it seems the battle will soon be upon us. The Jackals have plans to aid the Resistance, but will the pack unite against a common foe or splinter in the face of conflicting ideals? Whatever the case, some of us will be leaving the chaos behind, travelling across the seas to Othard in the hopes of setting up trade routes. We wish them a safe journey! Stormblood It’s safe to say that we were all pretty excited for Stormblood, and as the months went by that excitement only continued to grow and now that Stormblood has been released, despite a few bumpy parts during Early Access, I think it’s safe to say we weren’t disappointed! Though we did end up saying goodbye to some of our members who transferred to Omega, we wish them the best of luck and hope to see them again once the character restrictions are eased on Balmung. With that said, Jackal and Hide will be remaining on Balmung and we will be returning to our normal RP schedule next week!   PvE Nights After some discussion, we havedecided to bring back the Wednesday PvE nights of old with the advent of the new Extreme Primals as well as the Omega Weapon raid on the horizon.   Housing Refurbishment With the arrival of 4.0 we saw the arrival of a much requested increase to the housing item limit. With that we carried out renovations in the Jackal estate. Special thanks to Ryder Bailey who came up with the design. He’s done a fantastic job and we can’t wait to start RPing in the new layout!   Conclusion We've seen so many exciting things with this expansion from the story to game play changes and other new additions and there's only more to come with future patches (Swimming and diving has been my personal favourite.)  Thank you for reading and we hope you have all enjoyed the expansion as much as we have! Ye could come from any walk of life and find a home here…just look at Rufus; even he is still about.” - Thya Kahzuun Jackal & Hide are an EU-based roleplay free company on the FFXIV server of Balmung, on our second year of running. We’re salvagers and mercenaries with a splash of chaotic good morals, featuring an eccentric (to put it lightly) ‘pack’ of Jackals who band together for fun and profit. We host roleplay events regularly and you can see here for some examples of our past events. We also run a public event once a month near Costa del Sol, the Sunny Seaside Bar. Change in Leadership This month we gave a heartfelt farewell ingame to our leaders J’kilid Tia and J’Inarah Marad, as they have decided to stand down. Of course, this is not a final goodbye as we are still in regular contact with them and they may drop by every now and then to say hello. What this means for Jackal and Hide? As of now, the officers of the FC have stepped up to act as the companies leadership. I would like to take this time to congratulate Ryder Bailey on becoming an officer. He’s been a great help in organising and running events in the past and I look forward to working with him more in an official capacity. The Sunny Seaside Bar will still be an ongoing event, and will still take place on the third Saturday of each month, if you are interested in performing during the bar, please contact me on tumblr (listed below) or ingame as Zaoka Aloka and give me a brief outline of their performance types and We’ll try and get them rota’d in! We look forward to seeing you! Events As the fight for Ala Mhigos independence begun, the Jackals were contracted to smuggle weapons through to the Ala Mhigan resistance. Posing as simple peasant folk and farmers, the crew navigated through the fringes of Gyr Arbania where they were set upon by vicious Scalekin intent on making them their next meal. The Jackals were victorious in fighting back the Scalekin and it was not long before they found themselves in more trouble than before. Running into a group of Imperials, the Jackals tried to bluff their way past the patrol, though the Imperials looked to one of their number lecherously, intending to take her with them. This was answered with steel and spell as the Jackals siezed upon the Imperials and brought them down before they could abscond with a member of their crew. Once the battle was over the Jackals were gone before the dust had even settled, meeting with their contact with the Ala Mhigan Resistance, delivering them their cargo. The Jackals were once more called to Gyr Arbania, this time to intercept an Imperial patrol that had plans on looting and vandalising a temple dedicated to Rhalgr, The Destroyer. Having rendezvoused at the Fringes, the Jackals then set out to find the hidden temple and retrieve the spoils hidden with in so that they would be given to their rightful owners and not wind up in a pyre or worse, the Imperial coffers. Upon entering the ancient temple they were beset upon by vile Spectres, which were quickly vanquished. Once more the Jackals found themselves drawing steel with the Imperials and after a fierce battle they were victorious once more. With the relics in hand, the Jackals met with their contacts in the Resistance and handed the relics over to them. And that’s all there is for this month’s update! Thank you all for reading! Events With the start of new adventures in the Far East, the Jackals were invited by Gilbert and Klynk to join in an annual religious ritual to honour the Kami of the sea. After a test of agility to catch a particularly evasive bird around a pit, the Jackals were set against a large sea monster, as a precursor to a larger fight wherein the Jackals were pitted against one another to win the great sum of 1,000,000 gil. Bruised and battered, the Jackals came out victorious, with Quinthel as the last man standing.   A second adventure in the Ruby sea brought the salvage company to recover smuggled Doman goods. After a particularly stormy start on a fishing boat, due to the unwillingness of paying the Ruby Tithe, the Jackals found themselves faced with an exceptionally friendly group of Imperial soldiers that happily pointed them in the direction their cargo had ended up. Once there, a mighty battle erupted wherein an Imperial abomination had nigh on cleaved the entirety of the crew. In the end, the Jackals secured the cargo and made their way back home.  Not much later were the Jackals called further into Doma, to Yanxia, to investigate an issue of the Adventurers’ Guild being on the Garlean payroll. Under the guise of a fake leve, they infiltrated Yanxia and confirmed there was corruption at play. It was then that the Imperials realised the jig was up, and sprung an ambush, leaving Zaoka and Quinthel badly injured, despite back-up being sent. To avoid losses, the Jackals retreated to Kugane to convalesce. After much international work, the Jackals then enjoyed a night together at the Sunny Seas mansion. With meals provided by Quinthel, they shared tales and took pleasure in being pampered for a night. Good company was to be had, until at the end of the eve’ the salvage company reconvened in their meeting room, where they planned a heist in an Imperial castrum.  It wasn’t long until that plan was executed. Gilbert brought the Jackals to Yanxia, while Klynk ran rampant trying to distract some of the sentry in the Doman castrum, the others prepared for an infiltration. Wearing the uncomfortable colours of the Imperials, they made for the castrum. Inside, they took what they wanted with force and deception, leaving a dangerous explosion in their wake.  Meanwhile in Eorzea, M’rakhi Tia, a private detective, hired the salvage company for some much needed aid. Investigating a cult of some sorts, they made for a church in Thanalan, where they stuffed the freshly-risen ashkin back into their graves. After a rigorous sacrificial ritual, they gained entry to the basement bellow, where they encountered the cultists they were sent to investigate. A battle ensued, which concluded with Sagra turning to her companions and cutting them down one by one, afore being taken down herself. And that's all for this month's update! The FC is now closed.  We’ve discussed it, and the conclusion is that this is best for the memory of the FC.  Applications have been shuttered, the existing applications denied, and OOCly the FC has been put into stasis.  ICly, Inarah and Kilid both fully retired, and retired the company, letting the employees go aside from a skeleton crew (of NPCs) to keep the house in shape.  The house remains open and a home for those who worked for the Jackals and continue to need a roof over their head, and is open for RP and events, but nothing official will be happening going on. The Sunny Seaside Bar is also being shuttered because of this, freeing up that fortnightly time slot for anyone who wants to run something without clashing with an existing event! Down the line… 'narah and I have decided we’ll only really return if Viera are introduced as a playable race down the line. Until that gloriously tall-eared day… it’s been a blast, folks. To those who were Jackals, I salute you. To those who associated with us, I commend your tolerance for hijinks. To both groups, and everyone we RP’d with in passing, I thank you for some frankly amazing memories.  We’ll cherish them going forward in that warm, hazy glow of nostalgia. (And screenshots, of which I have over 25k taking up over 105GB.  Plenty of those.)
