Is housing on Mateus open, etc? That's my one concern. My FC has a decent plot on Balmung and we'd like to get one on Mateus at a reasonable rate or even upgrade. If anyone can answer, that'd be helpful.

I haven't been on all day but there were still a scattering of small houses available in the Mists and Lavender Beds this morning, and a mix of mediums and smalls in the Goblet.

There are still some mediums popping up now and then too, but they seem to vanish quicker these days so you'd have to keep an eye out and snag one if you see it.

I just want to state that my intention isn't to say Balmung is a horrid server: In fact I really enjoyed it. But I also want to say that I have had my fair share of bad experiences as well on there. On Mateus I haven't had a bad experience. I'll edit accordingly to not make it sound condescending because that isn't my intention. I wanted to stress the fact that the RP here seems to be a bit more centralized around serious themes versus ERP.

That being said, I am here to make RP flourish in any server on FFXIV. I like RP, I support RP. I have no reason to make people think RP is a bad thing on any server. But I do know there is a group of people whom want to get away from the Balmung community because of how toxic some of the groups can be. Not saying everyone on Balmung is horrid obviously, just trying to encourage people who feel like Balmung is their only option to come and try out something that could be a potentially better experience for them.

No offense, but how long have you even been on Mateus? The fact you immediately point to ERP gives me the impression your opinion is highly bias since you've already jumped to stereotypes. ERP is nowhere near as prevalent nor do people hound you about it. I get some tells if I idle around Ul'Dah but even those aren't a big deal usually.

All that aside, your overall sentiment differs little from Gilgamesh. They tried promoting a rivalry-- an alternative to the cesspool that was Balmung. It wound up alienating like-minded people aka other roleplayers who felt insulted. The inevitable drama that kind of mentality fosters slowly drove people back to Balmung while Gilgamesh roleplay collapsed into itself.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions

What you're doing is precisely that; good intentions that could lead to alienating other roleplayers who don't want to be apart of a community who does little more than take jabs at how much better they are than Balmung. If Mateus is to succeed, it absolutely needs to do so without those idle jabs. Yes, your experiences on Balmung may be bad, but bear in mind your experiences are also entirely subjective.

Simply put, frame your recruitment strategy positively. People like to hear good things, especially about a server they may consider making a character on or transferring. What Balmung is or does shouldn't even be a thought.

As I stated up above and apologized for, my intention is to not make Balmung seem like a bad place. As I stated before, I was on Balmung for quite a long time and really enjoyed the community, and the ERP aspect didn't bother me there as well. I was trying to give examples of comparisons because I am talking to a vast group of audience members whom may be seeking different reasons for leaving or staying or what have you.

I'm not trying to compare honestly. Mateus is going to be a different experience than Balmung, and vice versa. No need to compare, so I see where you're coming from. But I definitely do not bash Balmung in conversation. At the most I may mention the que times just for casual talk, but it's not any jabbing. That's not my intent, and *again* I apologize if I am somehow making Balmung seem like this ultra horrid place to be.

Gotcha! I'll take into account what I say more. Last thing I want is to make it seem like i'm trying pit sides or cause drama. I'll keep a look out more! Sorry once again ^^;

On a side note, Mateus is growing quite quickly! Happy to see so many new players joining the server ^^

Ahem, now taking my own advice....

Mateus I'm still a bit undecided on. Growing rapidly, a lot of new sprouts running around. Housing wards are no longer empty and as of last night, maybe a total of 12 plots across all wards/zones. I've not checked the situation with apartments so, not sure what's going on there.

My biggest issue with Mateus right now is what appears to be a massive lack of any type of coordination among, well, anyone. I had expected to see RP companies posting up party finders, LS's being announced and such. But instead what I've found is a lot of RPers who have no idea where to go or where to look.

So if any of you Mateus FC Leaders see this, may want to start helping out all that fresh blood pouring into your server. Otherwise I fully expect it to fizzle out.

Granted, I'm sure that it has much to do with growing pains and it's just a bit of confusion now. Hopefully everything will get sorted out soon

Not sure either. Yara has already apologized, multiple times now. All the offended Balmungnites can crawl out of her rear and leave her be now, 'mmkay? The apologies are still valid whether or not you personally got your shots in.

There is an actual project underway to work with coordinating with current FCs that are out there and thus doing world events, however it is going a bit slow due to rl issues and far more rapid growth than really anyone can keep up humanly possible.

Given the RPM just had to create a third linkshell and right now, the Mateus HUB is the only large free base of gathering, which the link is always usable, so it can be handed out to any looking to connect with rpers not tied down by community rules:

I moved a High level alt to Mateus, it's nice enough so far, I haven't fallen in love with it like I did with Balmung (yet!). I really really really love Balmung, but these queues are just killing me. I'm not techie (or not, not paranoid enough) to do remote log ins from work, nor do I have time to sit there all night waiting to get in., nor is waiting a Month+ to be able to play regularly an option either.

I'm really considering moving my main over as well. I love Balmung, but if I can't play what's the point you know?

I have connections on Balmung, albeit at this point almost purely OOC and I have nothing on Mateus, so that's the only thing making me hesitate going all in.

While it is all good and dandy for an alternative; I'd rather stay on Balmung; sure the queues are terrible, but it is quite suspect for them to just be so insanely high all of a sudden; and I mean more than even what Heavensward. I don't know, for some weird reason I feel it may be a ploy by SE; even with them calling out the server. *shrugs*

Hope you have an amazing time though on Mateus!
