Hey all;

I'm new to FFXIV but I've been playing mmos for a very long time, and I want to play FFXIV because I want to roleplay. The game and atmosphere and everything else is very attractive to me.

I want to pick a good server where this can occur regularly, and all my online searches turn up Balmung, but it isn't currently accepting new characters. Are there other good servers where RP occurs on a regular basis?

I've been playing FF since I was 9 when the first one came out on my NES. I loved playing all the single playing RPGS growing up, and spent easily over 150 hours on FFVII. I started playing EQ in 2002 and played until 2004, when I switched to WoW, which I've played on and off since then.

I'm 37, father of three, including a 13 year old daughter who's recent infatuation with anime led me in a round about way back to FF. After reading up some and watching Dad of Light, I decided I needed to be here.

I'm also new here myself, so I may or may not be 100% correct on this, but anyone can correct it if the info is wrong Smile

From what I gather Mateus is the place to be(assuming you're wanting an north american server since you mentioned Balmung) for new RPer's to be in a rich RP environment. I had rolled a male au ra there a few days ago and I can say there is definitely RPing on that server and from what i seen, the ppl were pretty good too!

Currently Balmung is the (un)official RP server but it is closed off for how long we don't honestly know. This again is just from what I've read. However with the new patch coming out in Oct sometime they will be introducing cross world friends lists and which will eventually hopefully lead to virtual servers connecting RPers once again to RP together as one big community Smile
