Man that sucks you did all that planning only to fall into issues :< welp on the bright side least all the current issues are most likely being fixed.

Hah! Well, serves me right for being addicted to an MMO. I guess I should have known what I was getting myself into. The worse thing is I'm all "how many of my obligations can I cancel?" I haven't bought tickets to the Star Trek convention yet, and Kate Mulgrew cancelled her appearance, and she was the one I really wanted to see.

And i never even had time to take some screenshots ready for character profiles. Ah well i was kind of expecting something like this to happen. I started with problems on my end with my graphics card acting up. Underclocking it back to default settings seems to be working for now hopefully will hold the weekend while i can get a new one in there since i'm sure it's on it's way out.

Then this on the server end. New games on PC especially MMO's seem to always be like this in the early days. So when it happened i just sort of shrugged and figured better to get every major catastrophe out the way on day one.

If it makes you feel any better, there are many people who were not able to get on at 5am due to the servers locking people out cause of how many were trying to login. My friend who I was going to level with wasn't able to get on at all and had to leave for the day even though he was with me the moment the servers went live.

Vader: Then perhaps you can tell him yourself when he tries to log in

Square Enix: The Emperor's logging here?

Vader: That is correct, developer, and he is most displeased with your apparent lack of progress.

Square Enix: We shall double our efforts.

Vader: I hope so, developer, for your sake. The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am.

But, what worries me - I didn't notice any ingame large announcements of "this server will be shut down in <time>"... I was just kicked out Smile

Yeah i had that issue for a bit as well but i eventually was able to enter....though it makes me wonder if we should consiter a server other the Balmung as our main consitering how crowded it is constantly.

Then you missed it, there was one. Though it was just a few minutes before the maintenance going "We will soon be taking the server down for emergency maintenance. Please log out as soon as possible." rather than anything specific with a long time to react, though thats the way of the emergency maintenance I suppose.

Heh, I decided to crash after finally getting to roll Jehanne after launch. Guess that wasn't a bad call. Oh well. Again, I'm always pretty sanguine about these things. Murphy's Law always applies to MMOs.

Maintenance is landing RIGHT when my kiddo is taking a nap....hence there goes my only chance at a nice 2 hr block of uninterrupted game time /cry

That said does anyone know if there is a OOC linkshell/chat for Balmung? Looks like Gilga has one but that server is locked (made the tough choice of picking between Gilg and Bal easy Smile

The offline character creator should still work, the game will autoimport your character back into the game once it goes back up, it should make things a little faster. Besides at least you can have some of the game while you are waiting.

Lol, I was reading that interview that Reinhardt translated yesterday and they seem to really like NA players because they are so direct. "They either dislike the game and will not play or it, or they will play the game." They said after P4 that their NA pre-orders skyrocketed and they broke the record for top preorders on PS3.Â

That being said, there apparently seem to be waaaayyy more NA players than JP players (which I think is really odd) so we can expect to possibly see even more issues.Â

Ugh. I woke up as soon as Early Access started to get my character into Balmung and play a bit. There were so many people and my FPS was crap so I decided to go to sleep and wait for things to cool down a bit. I should've stayed up and played a bit more. ><
