I will not lie.. I do go back to bed and nap some more or do some things for a FEW hours.. being one of those pricks.. But otherwise I'm online being active and log off when I'm going to bed.. Which helps gives someone else a spot. Its really knowing the best time to login that gets you in without any real problems.(09-02-2013, 09:21 PM)Naunet Wrote: I'd also say that not being able to log into the game at all for days (I've managed to log in a grand total of twice since early access and was only able to play in phase 4 for the last half of the second day) is pretty serious. It's certainly one of if not the worst issue I've seen in an MMO launch. Queues I can deal with. Occasional bugs I can deal with. Something like this, that keeps you from playing at all? Yeah, no.Yeah, this is definitely one of the worst launches I've ever experienced.
Fingers crossed that these server upgrades work.
I mean, sure, we don't have an abundance of bugs, and once you log in the game generally works, but how many paying customers have been completely unable to use the product they paid for since launch?" That reflects really poorly on Square Enix as a company. The free 7 days extra will hopefully mitigate some of that, but they'll never really live this down (just like Blizzard never really lived down WoW's launch or Funcom never really lived down Anarchy Online's launch). People will continue to play, but some will just outright quit instead of wait for things to get better, and there are always those players who never forget.
The worst part is how players are encouraged to essentially be assholes and stay logged in just so they can avoid the pain of being locked out of the game. The last two days I just said "fuck it" and joined that crowd in staying logged in overnight just so I could avoid playing with Error 1017 ever again.
