Well, in a real zombie infestation, I doubt they'd just be gone after 6 months
I don't have any shelter, no one really has stuff like this anymore... The last time anyone had those sort of protection chambers here were during WW2. I came for the ERP, I stayed for the free booze. |

My zombie plan is the same as "Dawn of the Dead" make for the harbor, hijack a boat. Total pirate from there just raid small towns for supplies.
The wife and I are big Renaissance fair fans so we have the chain mail, a few swords and a battle ax. For transportation I'd agree with the Motor bike or even a mountain bike for high mobility and fuel consumption. |

Anything with an engine is a really bad idea.

While I can see your point about bikes being silent, it's also really hard to run over someone on a bike, and a lot easier to get thrown off if someone reaches for you, compared to a car.
I think it's a matter of preference and different strategics. Also, you assume that the zombies won't be active during the day. There's no way to be sure about that really, they're dead after all, so it's likely that they won't need any sort of rest, and are equally fine during the night and day. I can see the point of the blade too, but I'd still prefer something that can take a lot out at once, and you can argue that something that doesn't require you to actually be within reach is good too. I think it's all a preference and a question of different tactics, but to say that for instance a car is a terrible idea compared to a bike, I disagree completely with. Both have their good and bad sides. I came for the ERP, I stayed for the free booze. |

Hehe, good point. Though if we're imagening that it happens in OUR world, I don't know how many necromancers I really know
All this makes me want to write a zombie/post-apocalpytic novel though. I just finished Stephen King's Cell, and while not exactly a zombie novel, it comes close enough. I came for the ERP, I stayed for the free booze. |

Elysia Wrote:Heh, after reading the Zombie Survival Guide and playing way, way too much L4D I got into a really weird habit of judging buildings based on how well they'd hold up as a safehouse incase of zombies. I'm a fan of the avoid and pick off from a distance, though I'd keep an axe/ bat/field-hockey stick on hand for close up encounters. I actually planned an escape in my head once after reading World War Z (also by Max Brooks). I think a mottorcycle or scooter's the way to go, especially a scooter. My little honda metro gets 115 mpg, and as one would travel light in the "Zombies 15 minutes ago" apocalypse, I think it's better than a large car for general fleeing. I've read both of those books and I do the same thing. I'm always looking at places I'd raid on the way out of the city and what all supplies they have in stock. |

The problem with small vehicles and bicycles is they leave you exposed to the zombies and don't have the power to plow through them.
I'm surprised no one has brought up a katana yet as 'weapon of choice' seeing as they were designed to cut people in half ;P Course 90% of katanas on the market are cheap knockoffs.... |

Thing is, if you find yourself in the kind of situation where you're surrounded by enough undead to have to 'plow through', you've done something wrong. Your primary goal should always be avoidance. This goal is hindered by the roar of an engine. Also: motorbikes bad, but bike leathers GOOD. Try biting through that, suckas! 'The secret to life without fear is e'er being ready to die.'

I'm sticking with my boat idea. Who wants to live with me on the Zombie Apocalypse Survivor Cruiseline?

Let's talk about time limit here, how long do you think a zombie infestation would last? And here's something I always found odd in the zombie movies: If zombies are dead, why aren't carrion eating animals attracted to them? And someone mentioned a flamethrower earlier, how about the inverse? Liquid Nitrogen gun, freeze dem zombies! Mostly because I doubt their nervous system would know/care that they're on fire and it'd take a while for the muscles to give out. |

Assuming the "virus" or what ever that started the apocalypse doesn't have any preserving effects, the human body would have decayed past the point of moving in thirty days. Then you get the deal with the dystopian world left behind for years till government and order is restored. On the other hand the "virus" alts decomposing.... I vote nuclear winter. |

Everyone knows the only car that will start during a zombie invasion is a volvo since they start no matter what. You're all falling victim to the classic, "Oh no the car won't start!" blunder. You really don't have to worry about making noise if they're already chasing you.
The one thing I didn't like about the Left for Dead series is that it broke the lore of zombies being really slow. Okay, sure it gave more excitement and panic but zombies are known for being slow. It's like having vampires that sparkle in the daylight ; ; |
