Hello, everyone!
My name is Adam, but for the sake of IC/OOC coherency, it's probably best you call me "Asgarn". A little about myself... Well! I am an experienced roleplayer, having had MMO experience in multiple titles (including World of Warcraft, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Rift, Everquest, Guild Wars 1 & 2 and many more). I would consider myself a "heavy roleplayer", placing a lot of emphasis on developing my characters, though this does not mean I don't also like/roleplay with light roleplayers. I don't bite, guys.

This said, I am also extremely interested in other aspects of the game (mostly duties, levequests and raids, not so much Player versus Player content). When out of character, my character's main role is a White Mage, so if you're on Balmung and need heals, hit me up! (Not literally, that would be mean. Yay, more brackets!)

From an in character perspective, my main character is a Seawolf Roegadyn by the name of "Asgarn Wastbyrtsyn", meaning "Asgarn, Son of Wastbyrt", "Wastbyrt" meaning "Sharp Axe" in the Roegadyn tongue. Asgarn is currently standing as a Storm Sergeant Second Class of the Maelstrom and has recently returned from a campaign to push back the Garleans from Limsan soil (or waters... You know how those Limsans like their water). As such, he now lurks in Limsa Lominsa, doing... Sergeant-y things. His class in character, however is not that of a White Mage! Asgarn is a musketeer crossed slightly with a combat medic role, having chosen to study sharpshooting and medicine rather than the way of the Marauder like his father, but just as to how he came to leave his father's crew, you'll have to find out in roleplaying with him! Although, his idea of medicine is throwing a random vial of anonymous liquid at you and telling you to drink it when in combat.

Once the Musketeer/Corsair class becomes available however (fingers crossed!Â Bouncy

Â ), I shall be changing him to that as his main class. For now, however, he's my Discipline of Magic character, planning to level Black Mage and Summoner also. I'm considering making a Highlander for Disciplines of War, but that is not yet certain.

Out of curiosity, do you feel that heavy roleplayer implies you prefer forum while light might imply something in real-time like a chat client or the game itself? I've never qualified myself as a certain heft of roleplayer so I don't have experience with such weight terms, I'm just calibrating.

Character development is a very cool focus, in my opinion. There are plenty of people around out to push plots but their characters don't change (not as if to imply that's worse, only different and multitudinous), so I'm excited to see what your writings look like. I feel like all of my roleplay experiences are so short term that I have pretty little character development experience myself and a lot to learn.

My only character on Balmung so far is Halpask, who you can find out more about on the wiki. I'd encourage you to add a wiki for easy access, too! I like your character's surname, has a nice sound to it.Â

We've got a bit to connect on in character because Halpask is military, himself! Feel free to send me a PM or a tell any time you'd like to RP. I prefer something like the forum to something like the game since then I can get around to it whenever it suits my convenience and fancy rather than having a sense of immediate time constraint.

Â My character too is a white mage in game class, but not a white mage in character. Â She's a paladin in training!

And what Halpask said about the wiki profile. Â Put one up if you feel so inclined. Â It helps people get a better feel for your character. Â Some use it to throw in a random detail during an interaction, which I love!

By heavy roleplayer, I meant mostly in-game. However, I have been known in the past and may well do so in the near future to roleplay on forums, etcetera. Unfortunately, real life is and always has been extremely hectic for me, as such time to get on forums is limited. I suppose the "instant gratification" of in-game roleplaying is simply a lot easier with the modern lifestyle. That said, I am always open to new things!

In terms of how my forum posts tend to be written, I always attempt to hold myself to a high level of literacy (this also applies to in-game roleplay). Of course, this is by no means essential to have a fulfilling roleplaying experience with somebody, but I like to make it as easy-to-read as possible for the others involved. Smile

Â Plus, I am capable of writing entire novels worth of information in my character wikis (ie. my Orc, Gorthek of Clan Dro'gar, in WoW... That wiki killed me but was totally worth it. Until the website it was on broke...Â Cry

To start, here is a public introduction to the RPC, it also provides a bit of information on each of the primary resources, no doubt you've likely heard of this from your Roegadyn friends in game before.

"Intermission" Is an old stand by, and OOC linkshell dedicated to getting people together, to talk, meet and everything else involved in building a community and meeting people.

"Balmungs Finest" is all about group content, be it farming Brayflox for battlemage, to Hardmode Titan, slamming your head against the loot wall is a frequent pass time here.

"Europa" is a Euro centered OOC linkshell. if you take a look at their posting it (like the others) shows the best people to contact as well as some of ways to utilize the community.

I hope none of this feels like a chore to go through, and that you have the chance to meet many interesting people out in the far reaches of Eorzea.

While I don't intend to use the gun wielding the class IC, i'm very excited for the chance to use one in the future OOC, and maybe toy around the idea of alchemicaly altering them. Have you considered working on Alchemy as a way to explore the combat medic nature of your character? the questline if very interesting, has a sort of Full Metal Alchemist feel at some points. Though it often feels more like "Chemist" from tactics... POTION TO THE FACE! "oh god the glass it sti-- oooh soothing~"

In reply to Olofantur, I have indeed dabbled with the idea of alchemy! Though, for now, Asgarns sole discipline of the hand is Goldsmith (OOC as it has nothing to do with his IC nature). It is certainly a very real possibility, though, and the storyline sounds interesting without even playing it yet. Smile

I shall get to work on Asgarn's wiki either tomorrow or the weekend, I have decided, due to wanting to experience 2.1 (Yaaaay, anti-social hours! Yaaaay, earliest possible access! Yaaaay!!Â Big Grin

). I hope this is fine, but I promise I shall get round to it at some point.

Â In terms of when Asgarn is in character, he doesn't use magic at all. Purely medicine and bullets kinda guy. Haha! Though, the way I've made him, I could bring him down multiple routes (ie. deciding to take up the axe like his forefathers, going on a pilgrimage after some enlightening event in which he learns the ways of white magic, etc.), but for now he shall remain a musketeer. ^_^

Can't wait to see you both in-game!
