I forgot all the deets about 2.25 except there's likely to be more things for Atma/Animus OR they meant that people would still be doing the animus books...

I remember changes to PVP; either they will add frontlines or that they will add new ranks, etc.

Mogstation changes perhaps? I know they mentioned testing out the fantasia stuff... so perhaps that will be a 2.25 addition?

The timing is correct if they're trying to keep to their original schedule of a major "point release" every three months. They slipped on the timeframe with both 2.1 and 2.2, so hopefully this fairly fast half-point release means that they've finally pulled in enough money so that the SE suits take Yoshida seriously.

Hello again, to all of you FFXIVers out there! Yoshi-P here, bringing you my fifty-sixth Letter from the Producer.

Hot off the heels of Patch 2.2â”€Through the Maelstrom, April saw the release of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn on the PlayStationÂ®4! Unfortunately, an issue has prevented a number of North American and European users from registering their product codes. We apologize for the inconvenience, and ask for your patience as SCE works to resolve the issue. In the meantime, if you are unable to register your code, we encourage you to contact the support center.
Despite this problem, however, the PS4â„¢ version has offered us new insight into how the game is played. Making use of the Share function, we've been watching players stream on the large monitor next to the dev team booths.
Whether they're fledgling adventurers new to the realm, or seasoned veterans battling the likes of Leviathan and Titan, players are constantly streaming, and the team and I are enthralled with what we've been seeing. In particular, watching new players navigate the world and experience dungeons for the first time is as enjoyable as it is enlightening. *
In the past, game developers, curious to see how their games were received, could only go to game stores on release day and watch customers purchase their product. The times have certainly changed, and words cannot express how happy we are to see players enjoying the world we've created firsthand. To those of you who've recently joined us on the PS4â„¢, I hope you enjoy your adventures in Eorzea for months and years to come!

The PS4 version is safely out the door, but this is no time to restâ€”not with patch 2.25 and the Chinese version release right around the corner.
Patch 2.25 will focus on additions and adjustments to the Wolves' Den, as well as a new system involving materia.
I know some of our players have been looking forward to the continuation of the Zodiac Weapons quests that I mentioned in the recent letter LIVE, but the release of these new quests has been postponed. Our reasoning for this decision is, in brief:

Many players still have yet to obtain an Animus weapon.
We would like to incorporate feedback regarding the difficulty of the Zodiac Weapon quests.
We are working to increase the number of locations where materials for the next upgrade can be obtained. I apologize for the delay, but those of you looking to obtain the power of "Novus" will be able to do so in patch 2.28, scheduled to release in May.

Where Animus upgrades focused heavily on the accumulation of Allagan tomestones of mythology, Novus upgrades will revolve around the use of sphere scrolls. We are working to ensure that the required materials can be obtained through various means, so we ask that you wait just a little longer until everything is properly balanced.

As I mentioned, we're also working on the Chinese version of FFXIV, and as you'll see below, PR has done a wonderful job of spreading the word.

The following day, we held a media event using a 4K theater projector. It was impressive, to say the least. Everything is progressing smoothly as we aim to start service in China this summer.
Now as many of you know, Golden Week, a string of national holidays in Japan, is coming up soon. The FFXIV team will be hard at work, however, in preparation for the Niconico Choukaigi 3 being held this upcoming weekend. Niconico Choukaigi brings together internet video and gaming fans from across the country, and this year we plan to leave our mark with a F.A.T.E. in Tokyo event. I'll be attending, along with assistant director Hiroshi Takai and lead UI artist Hiroshi Minagawaâ”€the daring Hiroshi duoâ”€sound director Soken, and other members of the team. We look forward to meeting our fans, and answering more of the questions burning on everyone's lips.
But weâ€™d be remiss to limit our events to Japan when we have so many wonderful and devoted fans across the globe. Two days after Niconico Choukaigi 3, I'll be embarking on our first ever Oceania media tour, taking a trip to meet players in Australia. I'll also be making an appearance at this year's Japan Expo in Paris, France and Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. We have exciting plans for another big fan event in the works as well, so keep an eye out for future updates!

I'm just going to straight out say that the only reason I'm not working on this is because I feel like the Atma drops are just waaaaay too RNG dependent. I grinded away for about 48 hours the first weekend for 2. I essentially gave up on it except to just swing my curtana zenith if I just happen to be in an Atma drop area.

It's so hard to remember that my BLM is equipped with the Elder staff when I do this... but lately I've been on BLM most of the time because of Bray runs or T5.

I put over 80 hours into my Thyrus Atma since the launch of 2.2, you just have to break it up and not try to grind it all in one go.

Oh I have. It's just I honestly would rather be grinding on the animus portion than doing it on the atma FATE RNG portion. RNGesus may think Kage is cute and adorable but he does not shine on him. I've probably put in another 20 hours on it after the first weekend cumulatively where I haven't seen anything beyond the 2/12 I got the first weekend. Can't down Twin just yet but always progressing further. Can't down Levi Ex yet..

It's disheartening to say the least.

I just found it interesting that they postponed some stuff because there's not a lot of people with animus.

In my opinion, a lot of people don't have animus BECAUSE OF the atma part.

Yep. That's what is for me. I have one atma. I don't have the time to invest in multiple hours running across the world fate grinding praying that one drops. I got damn lucky with the one I did get.

Really Yoshi-P, really? I wonder why people don't have their Animus yet...probably because they don't have their Atma and that's probably because they want to play the game and have fun, not run around mindlessly doing fates on a hope and a prayer to the Twelve that an Atma piece drops (I know I randomly got one by mere happenstance, but have no will to try for the others until the RNG is upped by a lot or the pieces are put into something like the CT fates).

That said, the 'difficulty' doesn't seem difficult, especially since it seems to be RNG. Of course I don't know what it takes specifically to get Animus, but it seems that it's just more fates, mob kills and dungeon/raid runs (2/3 things I really enjoy doing (not the fates =.=)).

Oh - and here is a picture of the almighty weapon guy (possibly an Eorzean-ized version of Yoshi-P...or Bahamut in hyur form, whichever).

Based on what I've heard, the books for the Animus upgrades cost a fair bit amount of myth (It will take like... 13k? Myth before you get the glowy animus). To complete the books you have to run, complete,Â and not die in certain FATES, Hunting Log of sorts, and dungeons.

All of which are pretty quantifiable. For me that's something I can work with.

The ATMA though. Undecided

That's what I've heard too Kage - and I agree, the quantifiable stuff is no problem, and if it's somewhat similar to the hunt log, then more power to it as I really enjoyed that feature.

Also the books for the Animus are 1500 myth each.

Oh I found it. There's 9 books for animus so it's 13.5k myth to get it.

I really hope they just sneak Fantasia in.

I'm a little curious about the PVP stuff because I won't lie, I really do like the PLD and BLM image.

It's a damned shame that it's exclusively for PLDs. I used to run around with greatswords and greataxes while wearing that. Then I finished my Giant set and never looked back. =3

So they haven't talked about changing the drop rate of atmas at all? Not that I want them to, but that got many people come up with whole theories and the like (though I linked someone to one, and he instantly got one, but that doesn't prove anything).

The Atma grind just sounds like a major pain in the tush. I'm not going anywhere near it unless and until I absolutely have to.
