I actually hadn't seen this thread when I was asking about Gala events yesterday (was thinking of hosting some of my own as well), but I mentioned Plug.DJ which is what I've used for WoW events for the longest time now. It's incredibly easy to use and creating playlists is simple.  If I can help in any way, let me know.
