--Why do you like to RP?
I like to RP because it provides a richness to the online gaming experience. It's something that can't be achieved with a console RPG. Online we have the opportunity to interact with other like-minded individual and inject content into the game environment. Whereas on the console, you follow the path laid out by game designers following a predefined path of the character's role you are forced to portray. Some games provide a lot of freedom, but pales in comparison to RP interactions that can happen online in an MMO setting.

RP Preferences:
--RP style (light, casual, moderate, or heavy)?
I'd say I'm a moderate to heavy RPer. I tend to write pretty lengthy backstories and try to connect myself to the lore as much as possible. I like to stay in character as much as as I can. I'm still a little new to the MMO RP scene, my emoting could use some work. However, when it comes to acting in character, I get pretty immersed and try to keep the OOC talk to a minimum. This is a game though, so progression is necessary. When I can stay in character AND progress in the game, I'm a very happy person. But I know sometimes a line has to be drawn between the two, or maybe a temporary break in the RP veil to get the progression ball rolling.
--Are you willing to RP a fight scene in game? If so, preferred method of combat? (/randoming, skill based, etc)
It would be cool to do, but if this were to happen I think a system would have be set up in advance. Maybe /randoming with modifiers, like adding hand-to-hand skill to the random roll. Something akin to a d20 system.
--Are you willing to take major injuries in game? (ie limb loss, comas, etc.)
RPing a limb loss would be kind of hard to keep IC in the game, as you visually can't lose an arm. However, I wouldn't mind being an a coma for awhile or suffering a few scars.
--Under what circumstances, if any, would you allow your character to be killed off?
Probably never. Although I do highly value RP, this is also a game. I don't think I could reroll a character from scratch to make an RP death believable. Now, if I had nothing to do with my life I would have no problem having a character die off and reroll another. But alas, my free time to play this game is limited, so losing days of playtime in a character is unacceptable.
--Are you willing to RP romance in game? How far are you willing to go?
I would be uncomfortable RPing a romance. Even though it would be considered acting and ultimately unreal, I'd feel uneasy about it. I would have no problems with flirtation though.
--What kind of non-romantic RP relationships are you seeking? (family ties, etc)
Any and all kinds. A friendly rivalry would be pretty cool. Family ties would also be nice. Really anything that can provide more immersion and connectivity in the game would be welcomed; having backstories intertwined and related is always a cool thing to me. Putting a real life RPer behind a character in your backstory is always fun.
--How far from the actual lore are you willing to stray?
I'm willing to stray far enough to accept slightly different explanations for racial origins or creating new (small) locales and such. The character I plan to RP is actually Half-Elezen. Although there are certain expectations for a race, not all individuals within the race must act the same. Depending on how you were raised in your backstory will ultimately determine the character you RP. Basically anything the doesn't put too much strain on my ability to sustain my disbelief is alright with me.
--Views on chat functions (IC vs OOC in /party, /linkshell, /say)?
One should always be IC with /say, there's almost no reason not to be. /linkshell should mostly be IC depending on the level of RP the linkshell partakes in. When OOC in /linkshell it should be denoted as such. /party depends completely on the party. If it's with a bunch a non-RPing strangers, I would turn my RPing switch off and pump out the progression the party is most probably seeking. If the group is full of RPers, I would much prefer to be IC. Some OOC may be necessary to get coordination going, but if it can be done IC it should be. There's nothing better than RPing while progressing in the game at the same time.
--Will most of your RP be confined in a single linkshell or will you try to RP with as many as possible?
I'm sort of a single linkshell kind of guy, but my RPing will not be confined to it. I will be IC in all matters of play unless OOC talk is needed or requested.
--How do you prefer to be contacted? (PM or post in this thread)
PM preferably. Unless the reason for contact would benefit from public viewing, then a post in this thread will be fine.
