First rule: Don't ever let someone else's disapproval make you deviate from your roleplay. You've got a better (the best) grasp of what Otto would do since he lives in your head, so the opinions of others shouldn't make you second-guess.
First rule exception: Taking things into consideration is different than halting entirely.
Your idea sounds fine. I somehow got it in my head you were going to have Otto walking around in the artifact armor, looking for all the part like a paladin, sworn or otherwise. This would cause problems for Warren ICly, but! See the first rule.
