I hear you, mate - I've wished for the same thing. I kind of miss LOTRO for that, since not only could you wield an instrument, but actually play music with it, too. I think even Rift has Emote-instruments that can be acquired, which TOR definitely did. In fact, TOR even has an acquirable /sing emote that has the toon cavorting, rock n' roll style, with a microphone.
If anyone from Square-Enix is listening, please give bards something more musical to wield than that mutant atrocity of a bow-harp!
But not to derail your thread too much - you wouldn't happen to know of any Bardic coalitions that could bring all the lyric-slingers together, would you, for hiring out both IC and for OOC services? I know of a couple of groups that do plays and such, and the occasional music events, but nothing more than that.
