Gridania doesn't really have much that is out of the way. Most of the paths get fairly heavy traffic. The only places that are usually pretty dead seem to be the festival grounds, and that little pond south-west of the Lily Hills. I tend to hang around those two areas.
The Mih Khello's Amphitheatre (1-5) is a really beautiful place and as you say usually pretty dead ^-^
