In my personal experience, each time I've seen someone act like a complete asshole in RP, they turned out to be a complete asshole OOC. It got to a point where I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, but there's only so much benefit and so much doubt to give.
That doesn't mean the assholes are always assholes IC (It'd be too easy to pick 'em out of a crowd) - just that I've observed a similitude.
Also, bad RP isn't being a dick. It's just bad RP - some of the nicest people I've ever met are atrocious RPers.
