Lots of times I use it to convey some sort of pause, too. I don't know why, but I always thought the way Cloud spoke in Dissidia was peculiar and sometimes mimic it with my elezen, Juste.

It was probably so the japanese animation could match the english dub in Dissidia. I usually only do it when Juste is under duress. Still, I'm tipping my hat to that sort of thing~
