Heh I'm with the folk who think the purring is a bit... much.
As for the question of the OP... it's pretty much mostly been answered but I'll just throw my hat in with the, "I emote the tail/ears as an extension of my character's body, as that is what they are, and thus they'll gesture in ways appropriate to emotion/action" crowd.
