The fact that you can NAME your Chocobo definitely seems to catch a lot of people off-guard. Gogon's Chocobo actually had the unoriginal name "Vanilla" until I gave Gogon his proper Lalafell name and decided she needed a more fitting one as well.
I'm actually rather glad it's so easy to change your bird's name, compared to things like the original number of GC seals required for resetting your class stat spread (they nerfed it GREATLY a couple patches ago) or obtaining that food item that resets the chocobo's ability tree choices.
Yeah I can imagine xD I have decided not to rename the poor thing because it's been so long now - more than a year - and it just seems a part of the deal now, if you understand what I mean. That and I can't really think of another name xDÂ
I think the best combo of names I've ever seen is a player called Suddenly Spiders and then their chocobo was called Spiders
