This thread also reminded me... in addition to Rita's Italian Ice... the Snowball stand down the street from me is probably going to open soon.
A snowball is a local thing here, apparently, where it's basically just a snow-cone... except remove that little dinky paper cone and put it in a cup. Now just pack as much of that crushed-to-snow ice as you can into that cup. OK, now pack some more. MORE. Then add artificial flavoring of your choice. Usually stands will have the usual flavorings like cherry, grape, etc. They will also have their own blends, with names that appeal to kids like "Spongebob", "Barney" or my favorite growing up, "G.I. Joe." I can't even for the life of me figure out what G.I. Joe tasted like. And then, you put marshmallow cream on it.
Eat it until it melts and becomes essentially kool-aid, which will be handy because there's a 95% chance your plastic spoon will have broken once it reaches the center core of concentrated ice that has formed from the snowball stand attendant's attempt at manual nuclear fusion when packing the ice into the cup.
