I don't think I've ever done any research specifically for my Final Fantasy character other than reading the FF wiki. However, I have done some very extensive research on the history of, and daily life in, the Holy Reich. I'm a bit of a history buff, but I mainly focus on a few very specific areas, that being one of them. Now, what I do for FFXIV, is I take what I learn from the FF wiki, basically overlay that with information about middle and late-period Germany, and decide from there how things are supposed to work. Â
Fortunately, Ryoko's really only got two things going on: living in Ishgard, and worshipping in Ishgard, both of which align very closely to the history of the Holy Roman Empire, especially in the Nordlands.
