I did this with a character of mine, Andralyn ("Lady Grace"). It was a lot of fun most of the time but there were some definite times when it turned into a time consuming, (no time for personal RP), thing. Met lots of great characters, some good contacts for future RPs, and then some very ....interesting characters/players that didn't quite grasp what I was going for with the project.
I know a few others have offered services such as this (some offering their own characters as the one to match with others.)
