Not every modder will rightfully deserve the pay, some will steal and by the time it's taken down they probably already made cheap bucks, and overrall monopolizes the modding community, becoming in my eyes less of a passion, and more of a business, which Valve makes profit by doing literally nothing.
Many mods I donated because they rightfully deserved money, like the one is Skyrim that adds an entire region, and Project Nevada from Fallout, so this is not really because I want freebies.
