The attacker didn't cause for her flinch. Instead, a bright flash and blooming heat caused for the woman to shrink back on her staff. Â Something more accompanied that spell, causing Nenia to drop down to her knee to fight an onslaught of vertigo. Â
Whoever stood nearby gradually faded back into one person. Â It took a few blinks and some patience with her swimming head. Â Nenia's soft gaze lifted from the black boots to their owner and a small yelp passed her lips. Her feet dug into the soft earth, its soft sigh muffled even to her ears. Â Was that her heart pounding so hard in her throat?
Nenia eventually scrambled to her feet, leaning so heavily on her staff. Â The mage remained there. She felt his gaze like a hawk's piercing eye on prey. The woman swallowed on a lump in her throat, blurting words moreso than articulating calming, "Wh-Why? Why did you--?"Â

She fled in the opposite direction with a shaky, "Thank you."
