White Mages aren't a thing in Eorzea? Are Black Mages? This seems confusing.
It's complicated. They are things in the game. The main-character (aka, you the player) can become one. ...your average person in the world cannot.
Okay, that's better. I mean, the player characters of the world are heroes, right? So it's feasible that there are enough new Warriors of Light or whatever they are to be called in 2.0 that can become these white/ black mages. Still, to anyone who hasn't attained that level of skill or mastery in magic, they would appear quite powerful/ special?Â
Just trying to think how my Scholar would react to a white mage/ black mage.
The lore devs did touch on this and state that the MSQ is written with one special person in mind, it just happens that we are all playing that one special person. But there is technically speaking, in the story, only one warrior of light. It would get awkward in RP real fast if everyone played out the storyline IC, so by far the most people do not RP as the hero of light.
It all makes sense from the perspective of wanting to tell a good videogame story, we all enjoy playing games with good stories where we are the hero or the enemy etc. and not just average joe.Â
Also if a black mage every surfaces (in a way that isnt the job quest) they would likely be hunted down, because of how dangerous it is considered to be etc. I would suggest reading up on it, I am 99% sure sounsyy summarized it somewhere.. If I find it I'll come back and link it here (unless I am beaten to it)
