See the problem here is that people are looking at it from a in character logistics standpoint.
First and foremost: Consent to Harm still applies here - if it's not there, your spell whiffs.
 So long as the two of you are in legitimate combat, yes, the Egi's going to suffer some pretty harsh damage (just remember to take the trade-off, you just dumped all your Mana into that.)Â
As far as whether or not flare one-shots an egi - that's up for OOC discussion. HP and defence is fairly variable depending on the Egi and the person's stats, so that's overall debatable.
However, I don't see them losing a Egi to be a big issue, after all, Re-summoning is a thing.
