Hello Sapphire44 and welcome!
Here's the dealio, my friend.
Having more than two or three sons is rare, but it happens.
You need very little explaining to do as to why a Male Keeper of the Moon wanders the land on his lonesome as they are nomads and wanderers by nature/culture.
Kyran'sae Shuga is a fine name. Fourth born of Matriarch Kyran Shuga.
The Miqo'te as a whole do not have a nomadic theme, certainly Seekers live in tribes presiding over specific territories. Keepers of the Moon similarly live in clans comprised of several families.
Keepers of the Moon males specifically however are lone wanderers, presumably wandering from clan to clan after coming of age. Though that's not been outright stated, it can be heavily inferred in a Post Moogle quest at level 50 where a sedentary male presiding over many females is seen as grotesque.
You don't need to orphan him or have him disown his family. It's entirely reasonable for him to wander right into Gridania and fall in love with it or whatever reason you have for him staying there. Though keep in mind there is some racism to deal with as a Keeper living in Gridania.
As to your final question, what your character wishes to be known as is entirely up to him, I don't think there's any government institutions presiding over names.
However, in my opinion, I think culturally because the first part of the name is the mother's first - all that defines a keeper male is that number. Taking off the number and just going by the momma's name would be like losing some of your identity.
I play my Keeper as very proud of that number, oftentimes correcting folks when they leave it out of his name. "Zagi, is my mom's name. My name is Zagi'-zi."
If he wants to reject the culture he comes from I think he would altogether drop both names and choose something entirely different, but once again that's his choice. And yours by association.
Sorry this got so long winded. Later! Have fun.
