It is a shame Square doesn't just implement it's own personal icon for RP. I mean one of the most popular servers in NA is an unofficial role playing server. Not only that but you can put the option to have a RP in what your FC does [ex. RP/Progression Casual/Hardcore etc.] so it's not like they don't know that's something people actively do in MMO's It's not like it would be something hard to put in, at least I would assume it wouldn't.  I agree though, having a status icon for RPing would be extremely helpful for walk-ups. I've only ever seen what OP suggested used once in game, and ironically I was confused considering I had never actually seen the icon used before haha. May consider trying in the future!
