"I would like to ask Sir Gegenji to come forward and share his thoughts and feelings on the Builder now."

"M-me? F-first!? A-ah... um..." Chachanji Gegenji hurriedly gets up and dusts himself off. Jancis aside, "Sir Gegenji, everyone."

Chachanji fidgeted nervously as he waited for the murmur of the crowd to quiet down. He had attended and even helped with several other pilgrimages, but this was the first time he'd been called upon to actually speak in front of the amassed crowd beyond that one brief moment at the Mr. Eorzea competition. The whole situation was still rather daunting, even with Mr. Franz's words of advice in his mind, and he glanced away and swallowed hard before finally starting to speak in his own, unique way.

"As... as some'a ya may know... I'm... err... I'm from Doma." He paused, scratching at his cheek idly with a gloved finger. "'n-n so our culture is a bit... dif'rent. We dun have th' twelve, we have th' spirits 'n th' ancestors we seek aid from. Learnin' 'bout th' Twelve through Ms. Jancis' pilly grammages has been real interestin', hearin' 'bout each one 'n what they do."

"Outta all'a 'em, though, I'd have ta say I likeByregot th' bestest. I-I mean... all th' others're interestin' too - 'n there ain't nothin' wrong wit likin' 'em - but there's somethin'... I dunno... PERSONAL with Byregot. Like I can get 'im th' mostest since I'm a smith, 'n know what it's like ta put hammer ta steel'n make somethin'. I wanted ta do somethin' right fer 'im... 'n fer Ms. Jancis... so I thought long'n hard - 'nasked a lotta frands - about what I should say... "

Chachanji hesitates a moment. " 'n-n this is what I've come up wit..."

Chachanji fiddles about in one of his pouches, pulling out what looks like an unfinished earring - or at least what one could call in the vaguest sense -seemingly wrought out of iron. "I like ta make things... fer people. I know that sounds dumb 'n obvious b-but... I mean what I make is not jus' made fer its purpose, but fer that pertic'lar person. I could forge any ol' sword, but I'd rather it be -someone's- sword... weighted'n balanced'n styled ta fit that pertic'lar person."

"By makin' somethin' fer someone... I feel like I'm there halpin' 'em jus' a lil' bit when they have it - when they use it. Even if'n I'm not there in person, I'm still halpin' ta deflect those blows wit tempered plates or beat down th' bad guy wit folded steel. I-it feels odd sayin' that, since I wonder if'n... well... if'n it makes any sense, but... it's also why I think I like Byregot th' bestest. I think he'd unnerstand, bein' th' Builder 'n all."

He kicks at a couple loose pebbles awkwardly and tucks the earring away with a modicum of embarrassment before continuing. "That's what craftin'... 'n ta a degree Byregot 'imself... stands fer me, y'know? Makin' somethin' ta halp others - 'n-n it don't even need ta be weapons 'n armor like I make neither! Earring 'n jewelry ta halp show th' beauty in that frand'a yers, a potion ta perk 'em up when they're not feelin' well, even a home-cooked meal ta keep their tummies full 'n happy!"

Chachanji scratches at the evergreen mass of floof that crowns his head, as if trying to dig the words out of his head manually. "Each one is like... I dunno, I piece'a us... given freely ta another, ta halp 'em out. Or somethin' like that... I ain't too good wit th' fancy words but... I can get behind any God or spirit that's fer doin' that. 'n... it's why I think I do what I do. I want ta halp 'n protect people, but I know I can't never be ev'rywhere 'n do ev'rything all by meself."

Chachanji looks up across the crowd, scanning for familiar faces, a timid smile touching his freckled features. "But... I can use what talents I have 'n make somethin'... that can halp 'n protect in me place, y'know?" Â He fidgets with one of his gloves for a moment, and then hurriedly makes his way out of the spotlight - as if suddenly remembering there was a huge crowd spread out before him. If one were close enough, they might be able to notice the embarrassed flush on his cheeks.

John offers a small smile, tainted a little with sadness at Chachanji. Â He goes back to taking pictures of the event as people cheer and clap.Â

"Thank you Sir Gegenji!" "U-um... it... it weren't nothin', Ms. Jancis..."
