Being stubborn would cause her to probably refuse help from anyone trying to help her pick up her grades, and because of her rough appearance she'd fall into the group of people that like to extort and pick on others.  To any of Glaz's friends it would seem she hates her situation, but she'd probably be pleased with it, as she likes feeling in power.
