I absolutely love the idea of rping in other places besides Uldah and usually try to, especially because of my "pirate".
I love Gridania too, and be interesting for more interaction with people native around there.
Most my characters tend to dislike Uldah in general mainly because of the heat, but because of economy there (granted none are really merchants)
I know that Limsa has an issue though with all that goddamn water and it's graphics can really screw with fps and I always have issues in the city... especially around the market or when there's a large group of people. The markets or large groups in other areas I don't have any issues with.
Course saving for a new computer since last one more or less died and new one should be a lot better, BUT I know from experience that some areas can be harder for some people so makes sense it may be avoided.
Also there's that little issue with the kidnappings around Limsa and that may put off some people that arn't natives and used to it *cough*
But also for the Uldah scene being the most popular I think it's also in part because you more or less spend a good chunk of your time at lower level around that area. It's where you're likely to have picked up rp and made friends or joined fcs and it becomes familiar and people are either going to stay around there most the time because of familiarity or they're going to get bored because it's TOO familiar and they need something different, especially after all the time spent around the area when starting the game/a new character.
I'll admit too I do tend to spend a fair amount in Uldah despite how much some of my main characters dislike it, mainly because familiar and where I started out and people I first met there tend to hang around the area too so most people I know are around there most times.
But I also get bored easily (which fuels my altoholic issues, but another story) so I tend to hop around often enough too for areas to hang out in and rp. Can be stressful trying to start rp with new people sometimes, but hey had to start out fresh when I started too and I may find something/someone else new that's really interesting. Wooohoo anxiety issues, but my wanderlust/boredom/curiousity tends to override it often enough it's not TOO much an issue
