To all fans and enthusiasts of the Triple Triad card game!Â
(OOC NOTE: Due to a few difficult schedule conflictions I'm being forced to set the events for Sundays, Bi-weekly for now on! Keep an eye on the calendar for updates!)
(A series of fliers can be seen within all capital cities on posting boards.)
After the stunning success of the first Triple Triad tournament, I've decided to host one every two weeks! This would not have been possible without the help of the amazing individuals who managed the bar and cooked for us to keep everybody satisfied! This tournament will take place within The Goblet's eighth Ward, Plot twelve! The Wandering Tonberry has offered to help host the events at their home!
OOC: Â Hey everyone! After how much fun the last Triple Triad tournament was, I've decided to hold one every two weeks! I was very satisfied with the friendly and outgoing behavior of all who attended, and I feel many of the roleplayers there made new connections to further their RP outside of the tourney!
What rules will this tournament be using?
The rules of the next Triple Triad tournament will be as follows:
Tonberry Cup Rules:
Rule 1: Same
Rule 2: AscensionÂ
EDIT: 10/2/2015: In the event the Reverse rule is active at a tournament, the deck requirements are lifted! It is, however, preferred you use five 1-star cards for obvious reasons!
EDIT 11/9/2015: In the event Reverse rule is active at a tournament, a competitor may only use ONE of the following per hand:
Amalj'aa
Gaelicat
Usage of both is forbidden!
Every pair competing in the tournament must abide by tournament rules. While mistakes may happen (And in the event of forgetting a rule, a rematch will happen to keep things fair), I will restate this at the time of pairings to minimize those chances!
UPDATE: 1/20/16: I'm adding in a new rule after some constructive criticism and talk to make tiebreakers a little more fair! If a tiebreaker for first place happens, the winner will take it, and the loser knocked down a rank, to second. There, they will tiebreak against any respective individuals for second. In the event of three(or more) individuals in a ranking place, a round-robin style will commence! Each player will play each player as though in the normal tournament, and the highest amount of points will be declared winner! (Much thanks to Anton for helping me sort this all out, couldn't do it without ya)
How will this tournament be fair to those with less cards?
This is the part of the tournament that I actually took the most time to plan out. In the end, there is no way to make it COMPLETELY even, but this method works to bridge that gap the most. Below is how it will work:
I call this the Fairness rule. Every player with 30+ cards will make two decks: One deck composed of four 1-star cards, and one of their choice, and one deck composed of four 2-star cards, and one of their choice. A player with 60+ cards will be asked to make a third deck composed of four 3-star cards and one of their choice. Upon time of match-up, both players will call out the number of cards they own. EXAMPLE: Mhaya has 93 cards, and Tonberry has 12. Both players will have to play their 1-star decks to make it the most fair for Tonberry.
Are there any entry fees or prizes?!
There are no entry fees required to join this tournament! However, since I will have to set up a ladder, I will have a mandatory cap of twenty competitors! As a note, everyone is welcome to come RP, and there is nothing saying you -must- be a competitor to attend this event. The cut-off for participation will be Friday, September 18th and 8:00 PM EST (5:00 PM PST). To sign up, post your name here in a response!Â
As per prizes, a few friends and I will be setting up great prizes for the top three winners! They are as follows:
For the first-place competitor: Prizes this week will be announced at the tournament!
For the second-place competitor:Â
For the third-place competitor: Â
Additionally, all three ranking winners will earn three 4-man undersized duties assisted by myself and those who help run the tournament! This is to help people obtain any cards they may have missed in 4-man content. (Please contact Mhaya Bajihri about this! It will be very difficult to remember everybody, so a little initiative goes a long way!)
As a final note for this portion: In the event I (Mhaya Bajihri) do compete in the tournaments to come, and place in the top three, I will be giving the prize for that place to a random competitor. I would be only competing for fun and want to see these prizes go to those who show up and attend the events.Â
What if someone cheats?
I hope this never happens at one of my tournaments, but in the event an act of cheating or illegitimacy occurs, it will be dealt with, likely in the expulsion of the party doing said act. (I really hope this doesn't happen, but am putting this down just in case!)
Questions? Concerns?
If anyone has an inquiry or an idea that may make this event even better, feel free to send a tell to Mhaya Bajihri in-game. I am more than willing to listen to ideas and answer any questions that may come up!Â
UPDATE 2/28/16: I'm doing away with the signup list! At first it was a good idea, helping me organize who showed up, but as I now have more help available, entrants are encouraged to simply show up!
