Irrelevant Convo that's been clarified above

Also, for Francel, shouldn't he be "fourth-born" or third-son? From Dragonsong tales they mentioned that he was the fourth-born (while reminding us that Haurchefant is a bastard). Or perhaps it should be third son and the typo was made in the tales?

I've already done Honoring the Past quest line, but I've read someone say that Laniatte mentions that it was Safat and Svara, Safat being the one who ransacked Steel Vigil.

Good catch!
There's actually a lore discrepancy between the Naul text and the Honoring the Past and Tales from the Dragonsong War story - which is probably why I got confused above. I've gone back and fixed the mistake though!

Anyways, here's the problem. The text for Naul explicitly states the third son was killed at Steel Vigil. However, Francel is the fourth-born, making Francel the third son. Lady Laniaitte and Lord Stephanivien are explicitly state as being the two eldest. So either the Naul text is incorrect and it should say third-born OR the late Lord Chlodebaimt was Francel's younger brother and Count Baurendouin de Haillenarte has another daughter that we don't know about, which would make Francel fourth-born and Chlodebaimt fifth-born and the third son. After Chlodebaimt's death, Francel would be considered the youngest living child of Haillenarte.

Anyways, here's the transcription of Honoring the Past:
House Haillenarte Knight Wrote:Several moons ago marked the anniversary of the passing of Ser Chlodebaimt, son of House Haillenarte. He was lost to us in a horrible battle at the Steel Vigil. His sacrifice saved a great many lives that day, and so every year a memorial service is held in his honor. However, the Rose Knights of Camp Cloudtop, defending their post against the Vanu, were not present. Needless to say, their attendance was sorely missed. We've received no missives from Camp Cloudtop regarding the ceremony, but at the very least, I am certain Rontremont wished to pay his respects. He is a good friend, and once served under Ser Chlodebaimt. This was the battle standard raised during the ceremony. It would mean a great deal to me if you would take it to him. Considering he was unable to attend, I think he would be pleased to have it.
Rontremont Wrote:Good day to you, adventurer. What can I do for you? This a battle standard from the memorial service? But it's so tattered, ravaged by flame and stained with the blood of battle. It brings to mind memories both dark and lovely. Never again will I experience battles so grand. We thought ourselves spared having survived the Calamity, but then came the likes of Svara and Safat... Had it not been for Ser Chlodebaimt, the list of casualties would have been endless. He was a quiet man, but the boldness of his actions spoke volumes. One only dreams of serving under such a fine commander. I appreciate the sentiment with which this was sent, but I am not worthy of such a precious memento. Lady Laniaitte is his sister, and her heart must surely ache for missing the service. If anyone should have it, it is she.
Laniaitte Wrote:Hello there, Sounsyy. Is there something you need?
...The battle standard from Steel Vigil. You are too kind. This is a most unexpected gift. My brother was a good person. Insightful, deeply caring, and a man of great integrity. Since taking command here at Cloudtop, I see that more clearly than ever. He was loved and respected by everyone, his subordinates perhaps most of all. Our dear brother Francel even transferred to central Coerthas hoping to avenge him someday. I thought if I left, transferred to an outpost far removed from that tragedy, the past would simply fade away and I could move on. But to see this... I sometimes wonder if his death was the catalyst to spark the decline of our house. But for his sake, I will not let our name be besmirched. I shall always be proud to be of House Haillenarte.

Safat's hunt lore doesn't say anything about razing Steel Vigil, but obviously this questline does. It's likely that all three dragons - Naul, Svara, and Safat - were present at the battle. Also, on an unrelated note! Yay - we finally have a rough date for when the Steel Vigil fell. A year and some months ago. 4th Year of the Seventh Umbral Era.

Naul Wrote:Ah, yes. You know how Ishgard is about dragons. The Holy See managed to get Naul and a few other dragons on to the elite mark list. A favor to be repaid in kind, I'm sure. The dragons Naul and Svara are best known for their attack on the Steel Vigil, which left the fortress a smoking ruin. Notable casualties include the third son of House Haillenarte...
Sightseeing #76 The Steel Vigil Wrote:One of four citadel watchtowers built along the Sea of Clouds, the Steel Vigil warned the Holy See of aerial attacks for centuries before being razed and gutted by the Dravanian Horde and their vile commander, Svara. Now, only the outer walls remain, leaving a bitter reminder of the dragons' destructive power.
Safat Wrote:A winning combination of size and agility, the dragon Safat spends much of its time winging its way through the Sea of Clouds. A scream or two, however, never fails to bring the Safat streaking down to its prey, attuned as the beast is to human terror and misery. Cunning hunters have been known to work themselves into a delirium of fear in order to bait the dragon. Results have been mixed.

Ardolain Wrote:A band of fearless monster hunters brought together by Ser Leaudaste, the Ishgardian noble who won fame and fortune as the original monster hunter.

There's mention of a Duskwight House Nevelle, however, it traces its roots from Vylbrand, and there's no evidence that this House is Ishgardian.

I was able to find a lot more nobles in the various Disciple of Hand quests, but most don't have the surname/House names attached to them. Glenda and Gerhardt are both Hyuran Ishgardian nobles, but there's no mention of their House.
