I agree they are like horses in our world. Ride em but don't eat em! Though....I do vaguely remember a side quest where you had to feed baby dragon deep fried chocobo thighs since he was curious about the food man eats...but after eating it he said it was disgusting and questioned why we cook our food and don't eat it raw!
